In February of this year, fans of ACP Pradyuman and his crew celebrated the return of the beloved TV show CID for its second season, making a huge splash. The original cast reunited, adding a few fresh faces, and the show was offered in a hybrid format, airing on both television and the SonyLIV app. Its popularity soared even higher when it was announced that CID would also be streaming on Netflix, attracting even more viewers.

Unfortunately, the show is now in the news for less favorable reasons, as reports suggest that Shivaji Satam, who portrays ACP Pradyuman, is set to leave the series. He will be replaced by a brand-new character played by Parth Samthaan. 

Shivaji Satam Departure Strategy

You heard it right! There's a lot of talk that Shivaji Satam has filmed his last episode for CID Season 2 and will be leaving the show. Reports suggest that the actor has confirmed to a news outlet that he’s not currently on set and is taking a break from filming. While this doesn’t explicitly state his departure, it definitely raises some eyebrows. A new report indicates that Shivaji Satam is indeed exiting the series, with Parth Samthaan set to take over his role. Keep reading to find out all the details.

According to Hindustan Times, in an upcoming episode, Tigmanshu Dhulia, who portrays Barbosa, is planning a bomb attack on CID. Although the rest of the team will survive, ACP Pradyuman will tragically lose his life in the explosion. “The team recently filmed this episode, which is set to air in a few days. Right now, not many details are available because the creators want to keep this as a major surprise for the audience,” a source revealed.

Parth Samthaan is set to join the cast of CID Season 2

There's chatter going around that Parth Samthaan might be stepping into a new role in CID Season 2, potentially taking over from ACP Pradyuman. While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, the buzz is definitely growing. Parth is known for his roles in shows like Gumraah: End of Innocence and Social Currency, and he was the lead in Kasautii Zindagii Kay on TV. If he does join CID 2, it would be his first TV appearance in five years.

CID just made its return after a six-year break. When the show came back, Shivaji Satam shared, “In this new version, the once unbreakable bond between Daya and Abhijeet has fractured, putting them at odds. The very essence of CID is being challenged, and ACP Pradyuman’s world is about to be turned upside down. It feels surreal to step back into the shoes of ACP Pradyuman after six years—a character that has been so beloved—and we promise an exciting journey filled with suspense and intense drama!”

CID, which wrapped up its 20-year run in 2018, made a comeback in 2025 with Season 2. You can now catch the new season on TV, SonyLIV, and Netflix.
