Legendary actor Shivaji Satam has responded to speculation regarding the recent episode of the popular TV series CID, which suggested the demise of his beloved character, ACP Pradyuman. In an exclusive interview with Bombay Times, the esteemed actor clarified that he is on a break and has not received any confirmation about the conclusion of his storyline.
Shocking cliffhanger in CID leaves fans in suspense
Fans are left in suspense regarding the fate of ACP Pradyuman following the latest episode of CID, where he was ensnared in a trap orchestrated by the criminal Barboza (Tigmanshu Dhulia), culminating in a significant explosion. Viewers are questioning whether this marks the conclusion of an era or merely a clever narrative twist, as the explosion was depicted without confirming the character's demise.
On Saturday night, Sony TV fueled speculation by sharing a tribute photo on Instagram, captioned "In the loving memory of ACP Pradyuman...". This post resonated deeply with fans, many of whom have grown up watching the series, as it included the phrase "End of an era. ACP Pradyuman (1998-2025)," suggesting the character's potential death and evoking a sense of profound loss.

Shivaji Satam says he’s in the dark too
It seems that Shivaji Satam himself is not aware of the recent developments.
The actor mentioned to the newspaper that he is entirely uninformed about the situation. The producers are aware of the upcoming changes in the show, especially since he has been absent for some time. Satam is used to a relaxed pace, so the conclusion of his storyline does not concern him. However, he has not received any information regarding whether his storyline has indeed ended. Currently, he is not engaged in filming for the series.
Furthermore, he revealed that a planned vacation with his son was the main reason for his temporary leave from the show.
Personal vacation time
His son, who is currently living overseas, plans to visit India in May, prompting him to schedule a vacation during that time. For the past 22 years, Satam has enjoyed portraying ACP in the previous seasons, and it has truly been an extraordinary journey. He attributes much of his success to the show. Presently, he is taking time to unwind and enjoy life. The actor certainly deserves this respite after his dedicated efforts. The producers are well aware of whether his character will make a comeback.
Since its launch on Sony TV in 1998, Satam's interpretation of ACP Pradyuman has become an iconic presence in Indian television. The police procedural, created and produced by BP Singh and Pradeep Uppoor, aired for nearly 1600 episodes, amassing a substantial fan base and establishing itself as a late-night staple for millions across the country.
It remains uncertain whether this is merely a brief hiatus or the concluding chapter for ACP Pradyuman. For now, fans can only reminisce about the legendary "Daya, darwaza tod do" moments and hope for a revival.
