Fans of CID were taken aback when it was announced that actor Parth Samthaan would be stepping into the shoes of ACP Pradyuman, a role made iconic by Shivaji Satam's portrayal for over twenty years. The announcement of his involvement sparked significant discussion and elicited varied responses on social media platforms. In a conversation with India Forums, Parth has now responded to the criticism and stated that he is aware of the apprehensions.

Regarding the criticism of his casting, Parth expressed, "To be honest, I did not anticipate the trolling to be this severe. I comprehend its origin. I too have admired Shivaji Sir and the original characters. If I were among the viewers, I would likely have similar feelings witnessing someone new take on such a cherished role. "

I'm not here to take his place

Parth went on to mention how his character will develop in the show as an entirely different individual. He stated, “I’ve joined CID with a specific aim, and that aim will unfold through the storyline. At the moment, Ayushman doesn't have a connection with the other officers, and that tension will be explored. Replacing a legend is never simple. I’m not here to take his place but to introduce something fresh while honoring the legacy. ”

Parth had previously confessed that he passed on the role due to his uncertainties about stepping into the shoes of the most iconic character. In an interview with Hindustan Times, he remarked, “Initially, I turned down the role of ACP Pradyuman, because I don’t connect with it. However, the creators encouraged me to think it over. I was also reluctant because of the show's long-established cast and the fact that they’d need to refer to me as ‘sir’ on screen. It felt somewhat unusual and uncomfortable. ”
