The Mahalaya morning means Birendra Krishna Bhadra’s Mahishashurmardini on All India Radio and watching the events on our favorite satellite channels. This year, Mahishashurmardini is aired on  OTTs also. 

There were TRP competitions between the channels regarding Mahalaya. Subhasree Ganguly played Ma Durga on Zee Bangla while Koel Mullick played the role on Star Jalsha. This year, Zee Bangla has presented Noborupe Debi Durga. Many Zee Bangla heroines played different avatars of the Goddess. Abhishek, the hero of Phulki, played Lord Shiva.  

A glimpse of the event became viral on social media. It shows Debi Chandraghanta, played by Mohana Maity, standing on the wedding stage. Abhishek plays Chandrasekhar, an avatar of Shiva. The asuras came to ruin the wedding. The dance sequence was trolled on social media. 

A netizen shared the scene and wrote, "You will not understand whether it is Mahalaya or the dance of baratis.' People laughed in the comment box. One person wrote, "The cartoons are good". Another wrote, "Is this Mahalaya?"  

Mahalaya means a special sentiment to the Bengali people. If that sentiment is hurt, people react. Trolls attacked Mahalaya events earlier also. They ridiculed Subhasree. Some people wished to see a new face as the Goddess. Last year, Star Jalsha's lord Shiva Ranojoy Bishnu danced to a rap song. This year, Zee Bangla's asuras danced which was trolled a lot.
