
Divyanka Tripathi Reflects on Traumatic Beginnings in TV: A Journey Through Depression

Actor Divyanka Tripathi has been a part of the entertainment industry for more than twenty years. She recently revealed that she faced challenges with depression during the early phase of her career, describing her debut show as the "most traumatic experience of her life."

In a recent interview with Hindi Rush, Divyanka reflected on her experiences within the entertainment industry. The Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actress remarked, "My first show was the most traumatic experience of my life. At that time, I was unaware of the concept of depression."
She noted that contemporary society is more informed about mental health issues, largely due to the influence of social media.
Divyanka further stated, "They say ignorance is bliss. Perhaps because I was unaware that I was experiencing depression, I did not take it seriously, which allowed me to overcome it. However, there was a period when my friends and I would converse in a room, and as soon as one or two names were mentioned, I would begin to cry."
She emphasized the importance of expressing one's feelings and suggested that having a supportive therapist or friend who can listen attentively is essential.

In 2004, she took part in India's Best Cinestars Ki Khoj, achieving a position among the top 8 contestants from the Bhopal zone.
Divyanka gained recognition for her portrayal of Vidya Pratap Singh in her inaugural television series, Banoo Main Teri Dulhann (2006). She further solidified her popularity by playing Dr. Ishita Iyer Bhalla in the immensely successful series Yeh Hai Mohabbatein (2013). In 2017, she competed in the dance reality program Nach Baliye 8, where she claimed the title of winner. Additionally, she was the runner-up in Khatron Ke Khiladi 11.
The actress was most recently featured in The Magic Of Shiri. Set in 1996 in Delhi, the narrative centers around a woman grappling with financial difficulties who chooses to transform her life by becoming a stage magician. The series highlights the various challenges she encounters on this new path. It also stars Jaaved Jafferi, Namit Das, Parmeet Sethi, Pitabhash Tripathi, Neelu Kohli, and Darshan Zareewala, and was released on JioCinema Premium.
