The highly acclaimed television series, CID, has made its much-anticipated return with a second season. It is broadcast every Saturday and Sunday at 10 p.m. Since the premiere of CID 2, audiences have expressed their admiration for the beloved trio of Shivaji Satam, Aditya Srivastava, and Dayanand Shetty, who reprise their cherished roles as ACP Pradyuman and Inspectors Abhijeet and Daya, respectively. Nevertheless, fans continue to mourn the loss of the late actor Dinesh Phadnis, who portrayed Inspector Freddy in the series. In a recent interview, the trio shared their thoughts about him and reminisced about their cherished moments together.

CID 2 cast talks about the late Dinesh Phadnis

In a recent interview with Shivaji Satam, Daya Shetty, and Aditya Srivastava reflected on the late Dinesh Phadnis. They expressed that, like the fans, they deeply miss the actor. Dinesh, who portrayed Inspector Freddy, was well-known for his witty one-liners that brought humor to otherwise serious crime scenes.

Dayanand Shetty noted that Dinesh was their senior. "Satam sir has been part of the show since its inception. Freddy has been around since 1992 or 1993 when the pilot was filmed. The character Dhanu, played by Sudhakar, has also been present since that time. Dinesh joined later, so he was senior to me when I became part of the show."

Shivaji Satam, known as ACP Pradyuman, expressed that the cast of CID resembles a family, stating, “It’s not just a show; we have truly been a family. Imagine the feeling if a family member were to pass away.”

In a related comment, Aditya Srivastava mentioned that he maintains a positive relationship with all cast members, noting that they often reminisce about their shared experiences whenever they gather in the make-up room.

Additionally, Daya remarked, “He was also quite humorous in real life; his one-liners were exceptional. We miss him dearly.”

CID 2 cast members pay heartfelt tribute to late Dinesh Phadnis

Recently, one of the episodes of CID 2 featured a touching tribute to the late actor Dinesh Phadnis, who had previously captured audiences' hearts with his portrayal of Inspector Freddy on the show.

In response to the episode, a social media user remarked, "The episode was fantastic! Everything was simply astonishing… The scriptwriters… what a climax! Literally 'CHEHRE PE CHEHRA.' And in the end, Pankaj summed it all up perfectly… CID has incorporated DID's script seamlessly."

Another viewer expressed, "You will always be remembered and deeply missed, Freddy sir." A third fan wrote, "This tribute was truly beautiful. The fact that it was somewhat unexpected after his mention at the beginning of the first episode made it even more meaningful. #CID2."

It is worth noting that Dinesh Phadnis passed away on December 5, 2023, at the age of 57, due to multi-organ failure following a heart attack.
