Sudhanshu Pandey and Madalsa Sharma recently quit the TV show Anupamaa, featuring Rupali Ganguly in the titular role. As the show is set to take a 15-year leap, several actors from the original cast are expected to leave Anupamaa. They will make way for new actors in the show. Right before the leap, Gaurav Sharma aka Toshu has already announced his exit from the Rajan Shahi show. Wondering why? Let's find out...
Gaurav Sharma aka Toshu QUITS Anupamaa
In an interview with Bombay Times, Gaurav Sharma confirmed his exit from Rupali Ganguly-starrer Anupamaa. The actor doesn't feel he can convincingly play a father to a 21-year-old on screen after the leap. "I feel it's time to move on. I don't think I can convincingly play the father of a 21-year-old and can't afford to take on roles that are older than my actual age," he told the news publication.
Gaurav thinks if he plays a father to a 21-year-old, he might end up being stuck in that age bracket. The actor had earlier been typecast in negative roles after playing one such character. Sharma revealed he shared his concerns with the show's team. He is grateful that the makers understood his 'predicament' and accepted his decision.
"I've had a wonderful experience working with the production house and I will definitely miss working with them. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Anupamaa have given me so much, and I hope to collaborate with the production team soon," added Gaurav.
Who is new Toshu in Anupamaa?
According to the publication, television show Manish Naggdev will reportedly play the role of Toshu in Anupamaa. When Gaurav was asked to advise new Toshu, the actor stated, "I made sure to thoroughly study the character. It's important to grasp the nuances of a role, but it's equally crucial not to imitate the previous actor."
Anupamaa airs on Star Plus and streams on Disney+ Hotstar. Do you enjoy watching the show? Share your thoughts @ottplayapp on X.
