Platforms like TikTok and Instagram play a pivotal role in shaping their travel plans, from creating mood boards to compiling travel checklists. Viral content showcasing 'must-visit' restaurants, bakeries, and hidden gems captivates this generation, motivating them to transform these online inspirations into real-life experiences. The dynamic nature of social media keeps them informed about the latest travel hotspots and culinary adventures.

While Millennials still place importance on recommendations from friends and family, Gen Z predominantly turns to social media as their primary travel resource. Nevertheless, despite the dominance of social media in guiding their travel choices, word-of-mouth recommendations remain influential, ranking second in their decision-making process. It is worth noting that word-of-mouth is essentially another variant of social influence.

Spontaneous trips

Gen Z is increasingly opting for spontaneous trips, moving away from extensive planning. According to Agoda's survey, 20% of Gen Z travelers book flights with less than a week's notice, outpacing Millennials, Gen X, and Baby Boomers. Additionally, one in four Gen Z travelers secures hotel accommodations at the last minute. In contrast to earlier generations that emphasized detailed itineraries and meticulous planning, Gen Z embraces the excitement of unplanned journeys and adventures.

Shared trips

Everyone has a soft spot for Bollywood's all friends trip movies.

Every member of Generation Z seeks to create their own memorable experiences akin to those depicted in films like ZNMD or YJHD, cherishing and recreating these moments during their travels. This generation shows a strong preference for exploring new destinations alongside friends and family, with 38% expressing a desire to travel with a romantic partner as well. In contrast, Millennials tend to favor family-oriented trips, highlighting a notable shift in travel preferences.

Budget conscious

Gen Z knows how to get the best deals.

While Generation Z may exhibit spontaneity and impulsiveness, they are not reckless. They are vigilant in seeking out the best travel deals while ensuring a fulfilling travel experience. Even when being mindful of their budgets, they refuse to compromise on the quality of their journeys, which resonates with the planning tendencies observed in Millennials.

Unconditional love for travel

Despite the varying approaches to travel planning among different generations, the love for travel remains universal. According to a recent survey, nearly half of both Generation Z and Millennials plan to embark on one to three trips this year, while approximately one-third are aiming for four to six excursions.
