Netflix Introduces One-Tap Full-Season Downloads for iPhone & iPad Users
23 days ago | 5 Views
Netflix has introduced a new feature for iPhone and iPad users that allows them to download entire seasons of their favorite shows simultaneously. This functionality, which was previously exclusive to Android devices, marks a significant enhancement for iOS users who were required to download episodes individually. The new "Season Download" option is conveniently located next to the Share button on a show's page, streamlining the process for offline viewing.
This feature is particularly advantageous for users who wish to enjoy shows or movies while traveling or in locations with limited internet connectivity. Since the introduction of offline viewing in 2016, Netflix has consistently refined this capability. A notable enhancement was the implementation of Smart Downloads, which automatically replaces watched episodes with the next installment in the series. The ability to download entire seasons represents another advancement in improving the platform's accessibility and user convenience globally.
Top Downloaded Shows
In conjunction with this update, Netflix released a list of the most downloaded seasons to date. Topping the list are Squid Game Seasons 1 and 2, followed by Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, One Piece, and Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
Price Changes and Download Limits
However, the rollout of the season download feature coincides with Netflix's recent price increases in the United States. The premium ad-free plan is now available for $24.99 per month, while the standard ad-free plan is priced at $17.99. Even the ad-supported tier has seen a rise, now costing $7.99 per month. Subscribers on ad-free plans can maintain up to 100 active downloads per device, whereas those on ad-supported plans are restricted to 15 downloads per month.
Subscription Plans in India Remain Unchanged
Currently, the recent price increases do not impact users in India. Netflix continues to provide four subscription options in the country: Mobile, Basic, Standard, and Premium. The Mobile plan is available for Rs. 149 per month, allowing streaming on a single device in 480p resolution. The Basic plan, which costs Rs. 199, supports streaming in 720p resolution. The Standard plan, priced at Rs. 499, offers 1080p HD resolution and allows two simultaneous streams. The Premium plan, available for Rs. 649, features 4K resolution, spatial audio, and supports up to four simultaneous streams. Furthermore, the Premium plan enables downloads on as many as seven devices.
The full-season download feature has now been made accessible to iOS users. To utilize this feature, please ensure that the Netflix app is updated via the App Store.
