Jio Adjusts Pricing for New Prepaid Plans: Discover the Latest Rates and Validity

Reliance Jio has recently introduced new plans exclusively for voice calls and text messages (SMS) priced at Rs. 1958 and Rs. 458. Following the guidelines set forth by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Jio has reportedly adjusted the pricing of its offerings and implemented certain modifications to align with the new regulations. The primary objective of the TRAI guidelines is to address the escalating costs associated with telecom services, thereby ensuring that mobile users have access to economical plans when they choose not to utilize internet or 5G data services. Consequently, it is important to familiarize oneself with the updated Jio plans for voice calls and SMS.

Jio-only voice calls and text messages (SMS) plans changes

Jio has recently unveiled its updated plans for voice calls and text messages (SMS), originally priced at ₹1958 and ₹458, which have now been adjusted to ₹1748 and ₹448 following the intervention of TRAI. Despite the price reductions, Reliance has implemented modifications to the plans, including shorter validity periods and limited benefits.

The ₹1748 recharge plan offers unlimited calling and 3600 SMS with a validity of 336 days, which is a decrease of 29 days from the previous validity of 365 days. This plan continues to provide access to Jio applications such as JioTV, JioCinema, and Jio Cloud. Conversely, the ₹448 recharge plan grants users 1000 SMS and unlimited calls for 84 days. Thus, the only alteration in this plan is the ₹10 reduction in price.

In addition to Reliance Jio, Airtel has also revised its voice call and SMS plans, introducing two options priced at ₹469 and ₹1849. These plans have also seen price reductions and minor adjustments, catering to users who prefer affordable mobile services without the need for internet packages.

Recently, there has been a notable shift in mobile service offerings, characterized by increased prices and reduced validity periods, which has raised concerns among consumers. While mobile services are essential, these changes pose challenges for individuals managing tight household budgets.
