1 month ago | 5 Views
Train passengers in India will soon benefit from a unified platform for various railway services with the introduction of the SwaRail app. The Ministry of Railways has launched this innovative Super App, developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), to streamline services such as ticket booking, PNR status tracking, food ordering, and complaint management into a single interface.
Previously, passengers had to navigate multiple applications for different railway services. The IRCTC Rail Connect app was utilized for reserved tickets, while UTS Mobile catered to unreserved tickets. Additionally, separate applications were necessary for train inquiries, parcel bookings, and lodging complaints. The SwaRail app aims to enhance user experience by merging these functionalities into one comprehensive application.
Beta Testing Phase in Progress
Currently, the SwaRail app is undergoing beta testing and is accessible to users on both Android and iOS platforms. Individuals interested in participating as beta testers may do so, although the Android beta program has reached its capacity. Indian Railways has indicated that the app will be made widely available following the completion of the testing phase.
Utilizing the SwaRail App
Upon its official launch, the SwaRail application will be accessible for download from both the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store. New users will have the chance to register, while those who are already using Rail Connect or UTS Mobile can log in with their existing credentials. The application will seamlessly synchronize previous travel data for the convenience of users. During the initial configuration, users will need to complete several security measures, including the establishment of an MPIN. After logging in, the homepage will grant access to a variety of railway services, which include:
- Reserved Ticket Booking: Reserve tickets as previously done through the IRCTC Rail Connect application.
- Unreserved Ticket Booking: Acquire unreserved tickets via the app.
- Platform Ticket Booking: Purchase platform tickets for entry into stations.
- Parcel and Freight Inquiries: Access information regarding parcel and freight services.
- Train and PNR Status: Receive real-time updates on train schedules and PNR status.
- Food Orders on Trains: Place meal orders during travel.
- Rail Madad for Complaints: File and monitor complaints through the integrated Rail Madad service.
By integrating these functionalities, the SwaRail app aspires to deliver a cohesive and user-friendly experience for train passengers, eliminating the necessity for multiple applications. With a single platform overseeing ticket bookings, travel details, and passenger services, the app aims to enhance the overall efficiency of railway travel in India.
