Bistro: Blinkit's New App Promises Quick Food Delivery to Rival Zepto Cafe and Swiggy Bolt
5 days ago | 5 Views
Blinkit, the rapid-commerce platform under Zomato's ownership, has introduced a new application named Bistro, aimed at delivering food within a mere 10 minutes. This initiative is part of Blinkit's strategy to enhance its competitive edge against comparable offerings from competitors such as Zepto Cafe and Swiggy Bolt.
How Bistro Works
Bistro functions in a manner akin to its rivals, providing a variety of meals, snacks, and beverages that are prepared in strategically located kitchens across various regions. Currently, the application seems to be undergoing a testing phase, accessible only in certain areas of Gurugram.
The app's description on the Google Play Store emphasizes its capability to cater to users seeking a quick dining solution. It guarantees the delivery of an extensive selection of food options, including snacks, meals, and drinks, within a mere 10 minutes. The description states, "Whether you're craving a snack or a meal, Bistro brings food straight to your door, fast."
Leveraging Blinkit's Delivery Network
Blinkit's current delivery network, comprising dark stores and a well-established logistics framework, could provide Bistro with a competitive edge. By leveraging these assets, Blinkit intends to enhance delivery speed and broaden Bistro's operational reach beyond its initial markets.
The Bistro application was launched on Google Play on December 6, 2024, although it has yet to be made available on the Apple iOS Store. This release occurred just one day after Zepto, another player in the quick-commerce industry, revealed its intention to launch a distinct app for Zepto Cafe, which has become increasingly popular in the rapid food delivery market.
Bistro vs Zepto Cafe
In contrast to Zepto Cafe, which is increasing its number of physical locations, Bistro operates on a model that utilizes cloud kitchens and streamlined processes to fulfil its commitment to 10-minute delivery. Both Bistro and Zepto Cafe, along with Swiggy Bolt, offer a comparable selection of quick snacks, including coffee, sandwiches, pastries, pizzas, and samosas.
This is not Zomato's initial foray into the realm of rapid food delivery. Previously, Zomato introduced a service known as Zomato Instant, which was later discontinued. It remains to be seen how well Bistro will perform in the highly competitive 10-minute food delivery sector.
