Apple Set to Launch iPad 11 with iPadOS 18.3 and Enhanced Features in Early 2025
3 months ago | 5 Views
Apple is gearing up to launch the iPad 11 in early 2025, which will be a big upgrade for its entry-level tablet. This comes after a year of updates for most iPads, but the basic model hasn’t seen any changes since 2022. Reports suggest that the iPad 11 will be introduced alongside iPadOS 18.3, the latest version of Apple’s operating system, when it’s ready for the public.
A trusted source on X shared (via 9to5Mac) that Apple plans to reveal the iPad 11 around the same time iPadOS 18.3 is released. The new tablet is expected to come with iPadOS 18.3 already installed. The first beta of iPadOS 18.3 was recently made available to developers, but it mainly included internal updates, like support for robotic vacuum cleaners in the Home app, rather than any major new features. The source also mentioned that iPadOS 18.3 has been tailored to work with the upcoming iPad 11.
Apple usually launches its ".3" updates for iOS and iPadOS in late January. Previous reports from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman suggested a spring 2025 release for the iPad 11, which fits nicely with the start of March. This gives us a better idea of when to expect the new entry-level iPad.
Additionally, the leak indicated that the iPad 11 will be equipped with Apple’s first wireless modem, allowing for Wi-Fi and 5G connectivity. It was also noted that Apple had tested a prototype iPad with the A14 chip, the same one used in the current iPad 10, but that was just for testing the new modem. The final version of the iPad 11 is likely to feature a faster chip, possibly the A17 Pro, similar to the one in the iPad mini, to enhance performance and compatibility with Apple’s latest tech.
Why hold off on getting the iPad 11?
Right now, the iPad 10 is priced at $349, but there's a chance the price will go down as we get closer to the iPad 11 release. If you're thinking about getting the older model, it might be smart to wait a bit. Plus, there are whispers that Apple will roll out a new iPhone SE and iPad Air in spring 2025, possibly with an event or some videos to highlight all the new gadgets.
