The 2025 season of the Indian Premier League is scheduled to commence on March 22, prompting numerous franchises to initiate training camps in preparation for the upcoming edition. The Punjab Kings are also making preparations, with their latest signing, Yuzvendra Chahal, infusing his characteristic humor into the team environment. As a primarily leg-spinner, Chahal showcased his batting skills in a video released by the franchise, along with his own participation.

Renowned for his lighthearted behavior, he had his teammates in fits of laughter by mimicking the viral phrase of Pakistan's wicketkeeper and captain, Mohammad Rizwan, stating, “Yes, it is a two.”

Chahal arrived at the training session fully equipped for batting as well.

His jovial teasing persisted as he playfully mocked teammate Shashank Singh prior to his turn at bat, inquiring, “Darr gye kya (Are you afraid)?” The footage of his playful antics rapidly gained popularity online.

Chahal's last appearance for Team India was in August 2023, despite a commendable performance in the IPL 2024 season, where he secured 18 wickets across 15 matches. Although he was included in India's victorious T20 World Cup squad last year, he did not participate in any matches during the tournament.

In preparation for the IPL 2025 auction, the Rajasthan Royals chose not to retain him, thus reintroducing him to the player pool. Subsequently, PBKS acquired him for an impressive INR 18 crore, making him one of the highest-priced players in the auction.

Chahal was unable to participate in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the domestic fifty-over competition, yet his T20 performance remained encouraging. He took 10 wickets in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at a strike rate of 15.00, demonstrating his ongoing ability as a match-winner.

The IPL 2025 season offers Chahal a significant opportunity to reaffirm his standing.

The Punjab Kings will commence their IPL campaign on March 25, facing the 2022 champions, the Gujarat Titans, captained by Shubman Gill.

Shreyas Iyer, who led the Kolkata Knight Riders to victory in the previous season, will be at the helm of the Kings.
