ILT20 is rapidly establishing itself as one of the most popular global T20 leagues, reflecting the high caliber of cricket being showcased. The tournament serves as an excellent platform for emerging UAE players, allowing them to compete alongside renowned international cricketers such as Nicholas Pooran, David Warner, Will Jacks, and Mohammad Amir.

Virender Sehwag, the former Indian opener celebrated for his aggressive batting style and now part of the broadcasting team, expresses confidence in the league's potential for growth. Although the current involvement of Indian stars is limited, Sehwag envisions a future where players like Yuvraj Singh could join the league.

In response to a question from Hindustan Times during a media event in Abu Dhabi, Sehwag remarked, "If any Indian player who has recently retired from international cricket or the IPL wishes to participate, similar to Dinesh Karthik's involvement in SA20, we would be eager to see Indian players in ILT20."

When prompted about which former Indian cricketer he would like to see in the tournament, Sehwag's answer was immediate. "He is a sixer man," he stated, referring to Yuvraj Singh, whose remarkable achievement of hitting six sixes in an over against Stuart Broad during the 2007 T20 World Cup is etched in cricket history.

When questioned about the possibility of him playing in the tournament to share his experience, Sehwag humorously dismissed the notion. "I am too old to play. But still, you can play. I am too old. I can't handle fast bowling now," he explained.

What makes ILT20 so good?

Sehwag believes that ILT20 is becoming increasingly competitive with each season, emphasizing the significant benefits of local players competing alongside elite international talent. He asserts that this experience is unparalleled and invaluable for their development.

I believe this marks my third year as a commentator in the ILT20. I have observed a significant influx of talented international players participating in this league, which is proving advantageous for the young players from the UAE. The local players are gaining valuable experience by competing alongside these international athletes, which is quite beneficial. This year, it is evident that all the matches have been highly engaging, remarked Sehwag.

I am optimistic that the final two games will be exceptional. Additionally, as you noted, there have been numerous closely contested matches, many of which featured scores exceeding 200.

When inquired about which player he would prefer to open the batting with, Sehwag promptly mentioned David Warner. For those who may not be aware, the two previously established a formidable opening partnership while playing for the Delhi Daredevils, now known as the Delhi Capitals.
