Yashasvi Jaiswal Rejoins Mumbai Squad for Ranji Semi-Final Following Champions Trophy Omission

Yashasvi Jaiswal is poised to enhance Mumbai's batting lineup in their pivotal Ranji Trophy semifinal against Vidarbha, providing additional strength to the 42-time champions ahead of the critical match in Nagpur. The left-handed opener, who recently participated in India's ODI squad against England, has been included in the Mumbai team following their decisive 152-run victory over Haryana in Kolkata during the quarterfinals.
Jaiswal, set to join the squad on Friday, is among India's non-travelling substitutes for the Champions Trophy, alongside all-rounder Shivam Dube. This arrangement means that the pair will only need to travel to Dubai if required, allowing Jaiswal to concentrate fully on Mumbai's Ranji Trophy efforts.
Initially part of India's 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy, Jaiswal was subsequently replaced by Varun Chakaravarthy as the team opted to include a fifth spinner. He also made his ODI debut in the first match of the series against England, where he scored 15 runs off 22 balls, failing to leave a significant impact.
Although his red-ball performance this domestic season has been limited to just one match, where he scored 4 and 26 in Mumbai's surprising defeat to Jammu & Kashmir, Jaiswal has shown remarkable form in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The 23-year-old accumulated 391 runs in five Tests against Australia, averaging 43.44, which included one century and two half-centuries.
A repeat of previous year's final
The forthcoming semifinal at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Jamtha will mirror last season's final, in which Mumbai triumphed to secure yet another Ranji Trophy title. However, Vidarbha will be determined to reverse the outcome this time around.
The senior selection committee of Mumbai, led by chairman Sanjay Patil and including members Ravi Thaker, Jeetendra Thackeray, Kiran Powar, and Vikrant Yeligeti, has decided to incorporate Jaiswal into the team.
Mumbai squad: Ajinkya Rahane (Captain), Ayush Mhatre, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Amogh Bhatkal, Suryakumar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Siddhesh Lad, Shivam Dube, Akash Anand (WK), Hardik Tamore (WK), Suryansh Shedge, Shardul Thakur, Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, Mohit Avasthi, Sylvester Dsouza, Royston Dias, Atharva Ankolekar, Harsh Tanna.
