India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal reported to Mumbai's Ranji Trophy camp on Wednesday, thereby confirming his participation in the upcoming round of the tournament. Mumbai is scheduled to face Jammu and Kashmir at home on January 23. On a related note, India captain Rohit Sharma, who trained with the team on Tuesday, did not attend the practice session on Wednesday.
As per a report from PTI, Jaiswal, who performed commendably during the tour of Australia with a total of 391 runs across five innings, including two fifties and a match-winning century in Perth, engaged in a batting practice session at the open nets at the Bandra Kurla Complex Ground in the morning.
In the meantime, Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane displayed excellent form with several powerful flicks off his pads. Conversely, Shivam Dube adopted an aggressive approach against both pace and spin bowlers during his batting practice alongside the senior Indian player.

The 37-year-old player, who partnered with Ajinkya Rahane during their batting session on Tuesday at Wankhede Stadium, was absent from the training session on Wednesday. Nevertheless, he was seen jogging at the Bandra Kurla Complex in a viral video. It is anticipated that he will return to training within a day or two.
It remains uncertain whether Rohit will be available for the Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir, as the right-handed batsman is eager to rectify his disappointing performance in red-ball cricket. Since September, he has accumulated only 164 runs in eight Test matches, averaging 10.93. Notably, 31 of those runs were scored during the Australian tour across five innings, after which he withdrew from the playing XI for the final match in Sydney.
"The selectors are anticipated to announce the squad on January 20, during which they will adhere to the standard procedure of verifying the availability of each player. Rohit will also be consulted regarding his selection around that time," stated an official from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to PTI.
