Who is Prince Yadav? The conqueror of Travis Head, who caused heartbreak for Klassen, received a standing ovation from Sanjiv Goenka

Confronted with injury challenges that affected their pace attack and following a disappointing start to the IPL 2025 season, Lucknow Super Giants' captain Rishabh Pant made a bold decision by introducing the relatively unknown Prince Yadav. The 23-year-old delivered an impressive performance, notably claiming his first IPL wicket by dismissing Travis Head.
Yadav had previously caught the attention of LSG scouts with his effective bowling during the inaugural Delhi Premier League last year, which led to his signing at the mega auction last November for a base price of INR 30 lakh. In that domestic T20 tournament, he secured 13 wickets in 10 innings. Additionally, he was the top wicket-taker for Delhi in the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he took 11 wickets in 6 matches at an average of 22.
On Tuesday, Yadav was introduced immediately after the powerplay and made an impact right away. After conceding a four on his first delivery, he quickly bounced back to dismiss the formidable Head with a remarkable yorker. The Australian batsman, having advanced his front leg to swing, misjudged the fuller delivery, which struck the stumps at the middle and off. LSG mentor Zaheer Khan expressed his delight in the dugout, applauding Yadav's effort.
Yadav also played a crucial role in the dismissal of Heinrich Klaasen. This occurred on the last ball of the 12th over when Nitish Reddy hit a low full toss back at Yadav, causing it to deflect onto the stumps at the opposite end, leaving Klaasen unfortunate. Despite a minor injury scare, Yadav's outstanding performance garnered a standing ovation from LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar also commended Yadav for his ability to vary his line and length throughout his spell, preventing the batsmen from settling in.
Shardul Thakur's four-fer steals the show
The Indian all-rounder, who joined the IPL later after remaining unsold during last year's major auction, delivered a remarkable performance, taking four wickets, including two in consecutive deliveries, which limited SRH to a total of 190 runs for nine wickets.
