The Group B match between Australia and South Africa in the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 was called off without any play, shaking up the semifinal standings. Both teams ended up with one point each, bringing their total to three points from two matches.

Even if they lose to England, the Proteas could still make it to the semi-finals, but they would need England to lose to Afghanistan on Wednesday.

Australia:

Australia, the two-time Champions Trophy champs, are in control of their own destiny. If they snag a win against Afghanistan in their last group-stage match, they'll secure a spot in the semi-finals.

But if they end up losing to Afghanistan, then Steve Smith and the team will need South Africa to take down England to keep their hopes alive for the final four.

England:

After dropping their first match to Australia, England needs to secure victories in their last two games against Afghanistan and South Africa to keep their qualification hopes alive.

The upcoming match between Afghanistan and England is crucial for all teams in Group B. If both Australia and South Africa stumble in their last group matches, the team that comes out on top in the Afghanistan vs. England game will move on to the semi-finals.

Afghanistan:

After losing their first match to South Africa, the team led by Hashmatullah Shahidi must secure victories against England and Australia to keep their hopes of making it to the semi-finals alive.
