Warrican Strikes Back: Imitates Cena After Dismissing Sajid Khan
1 month ago | 5 Views
Jomel Warrican had the opportunity to seek retribution against Pakistan's Sajid Khan, and the West Indies spinner did not shy away from the moment. After being dismissed in a manner reminiscent of Sajid's earlier celebration during the West Indies second innings, Warrican responded by mocking the Pakistan spinner. Sajid had employed John Cena's 'You Can't See Me' gesture to provoke Warrican. The West Indies were all out for 244 in their second innings, setting a target of 255 runs for the hosts, which they ultimately failed to achieve, resulting in a 1-1 series draw.
In a noteworthy turn of events, Warrican's final wicket drew significant attention as he exacted his revenge by mimicking the same John Cena celebration after dismissing Sajid for 7, thereby securing victory for the visitors. Warrican achieved a five-wicket haul in the second innings, concluding the match with a total of nine wickets and 19 wickets throughout the series, effectively giving the hosts a taste of their own medicine on the sharply spinning pitches.
West Indian captain Kraigg Brathwaite commended the outstanding performance of key player Warrican, who contributed an unbeaten 36 runs in the West Indies first innings total of 163 and was honoured with both the man of the match and player of the series accolades.
"In addition to his remarkable bowling, he consistently claims to be among the finest off-spin bowlers in the Caribbean, so it is gratifying to witness him achieving success with both bat and ball," he remarked following the match.
Historic win for West Indies
The West Indies achieved a momentous victory, marking their first Test win in Pakistan since November 1990 in Faisalabad, following unsuccessful tours in 1997 and 2006.
Resuming their innings at 76-4 while pursuing a target of 254, Pakistan's chances of success hinged on Saud Shakeel. However, Kevin Sinclair's dismissal of the left-handed batsman, caught in the slips for 13, significantly diminished the home team's prospects.
Babar Azam was the top scorer for Pakistan with 31 runs, while Mohammad Rizwan contributed 25 as the team was dismissed for a total of 133 runs.
Warrican's delivery bowled nightwatchman Kashif Ali for just one run, leaving Pakistan in a precarious position at 76-6.
Rizwan managed to add 39 runs for the seventh wicket alongside Salman Ali Agha before Warrican trapped the latter leg-before wicket for 15 runs and subsequently bowled Rizwan, bringing the tourists within two wickets of a straightforward victory.
This defeat relegated Pakistan to the ninth and last position in the World Test Championship standings, while the West Indies secured the eighth position.
