Last night, in Delhi, KL Rahul faced off against Virat Kohli, resulting in a somewhat heated exchange in the middle. Likewise, in the PSL, two of Pakistan cricket's leading figures clashed when Mohammad Amir bowled to Babar Azam during the Quetta Gladiators versus Peshawar Zalmi match on Sunday.

Amir posed a significant challenge for Babar. He bowled four deliveries to Babar, all of which made the former Pakistan captain struggle. Amir’s first delivery was a bouncer that struck Babar directly on the helmet. The batter underwent a concussion assessment, but his situation did not improve. Babar could only manage a single off Amir's bowling before his stint in the middle concluded. A ferocious inswinger from the left-arm bowler struck Babar on the pads, and the batter was left completely out. The finger was raised in a flash, and Babar was heading back.

However, it was Amir’s celebration that truly stood out. The seasoned pacer was elated and charged towards the Gladiators’ dugout, where mentor Viv Richards was located. Amir made a gesture towards Richards in celebration of the wicket, but the West Indies icon advised him to remain composed, relax, and keep up the good work. Amir finished with figures of 1/18, but it was his teammate Faheem Ashraf who shone brightest with a five-wicket haul. Faheem recorded 5/33 from 3. 3 overs, contributing to the Gladiators' impressive 64-run victory over Zalmi.

Babar, with 117 runs, is not even within the top 10 of the highest run-scorers list in PSL 2025, while Amir finds himself in 12th place with 7 wickets. Regarding their teams, Zalmi is having a tough time, sitting in fourth place with two victories from six matches. The Gladiators are performing better than Zalmi, but with six points in third place, they are not completely secure yet.

"Babar Azam will soon find his form again. A king is defined as one who reigns over all. Regardless of one’s batting prowess, everyone experiences a rough phase. This is not the first time he has encountered such a period. Babar is an exceptionally skilled player," Richards stated to Cricket Pakistan.

"I am confident he will return to form very shortly. I think when you observe players like Kohli and Babar, they seem to honor the game of cricket. "

Amir has shown interest in participating in the Indian Premier League. Indeed, the star of Pakistan's Champions Trophy 2017 final, Amir, in a remarkable statement, highlighted that he is close to playing in the IPL next year.
