KL Rahul bounced back from criticism to deliver a stellar performance during the knockout rounds, helping India secure their third Champions Trophy title without a loss. In the final against New Zealand on Sunday in Dubai, he played a steady innings, scoring 34* off 33 balls as India successfully chased down 252 runs with an over to spare. However, his post-match moment had Virat Kohli in stitches, leaving Rahul feeling a bit embarrassed.

After facing blame for India's defeat in the 2023 ODI World Cup final due to a slow innings, Rahul put those memories behind him with a strong display on a challenging pitch in Dubai. He joined in the celebrations as the Indian team, now the reigning T20 world champions, celebrated their second consecutive ICC title.

In the midst of the excitement, Rahul forgot to take off his pads. He showed up for interviews and photos still in his batting gear. It was only when Kohli started laughing at the sight of him on stage to collect the white blazer that he realized his mistake. As Kohli playfully teased him and the rest of the team chuckled, the 32-year-old quickly rectified the situation by removing his pads right there on stage.

After clinching the win against New Zealand and securing his first ICC trophy, Rahul expressed that the victory was an incredible feeling and emphasized his goal of winning even more trophies in the future.

"There’s honestly no feeling quite like this. I mentioned in an interview a few months back that my main goal now is to rack up as many titles as I can. I’ve been fortunate to find myself in situations where I can help my team win. I haven’t always succeeded, but that’s what makes sports exciting—you keep getting chances. If you stay grounded, put in the effort, and let your performance shine, good things will come your way. That’s all I can say. We put in hard work all year long, throughout our careers, but moments like this are really something special," he shared with Star Sports.
