Veteran Indian cricketer Suresh Raina commended Virat Kohli's exceptional attitude while fielding, noting that Kohli's presence on the field significantly influenced the mindset of his teammates. During his captaincy, Kohli spearheaded a fitness revolution within Indian cricket, enhancing the team's fielding capabilities. He established a rigorous standard for fitness and fielding excellence. At 36 years of age, Kohli adheres to a disciplined routine to maintain his fitness for competing at the highest level.
Raina, who was part of the ODI World Cup-winning team in 2011 alongside Kohli, remarked on Kohli's value as a teammate in the dressing room and highlighted his approach to fielding preparation.
"His mindset is unique. As I mentioned, he is an excellent teammate to have in the dressing room, always ready to engage. His practice sessions are characterized by a distinct level of preparation, and when the situation becomes challenging, he is the first to rally the team, urging us to focus on fielding," Raina stated during an interview with Star Sports.
Raina, recognized as one of India's finest fielders, emphasized that both he and Kohli hail from North India, where the stakes are high in their matches, and losing is not an option.
"I thoroughly enjoyed fielding alongside him because his enthusiasm is unparalleled. When he is in the zone for fielding and diving, it transforms the attitude of everyone around him. Virat possesses remarkable talent and embodies a unique spirit typical of North Indians. Coming from that region, we cannot accept defeat. We are relentless and will not give up easily. That is the kind of mentality he exemplifies," he concluded.
Virat Kohli to take part in Ranji Trophy match
Kohli is set to participate in the upcoming Ranji Trophy match. This involvement in the domestic circuit follows the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) implementing a more stringent policy regarding the participation of Indian international players in domestic competitions.
Recently, images and videos of Virat collaborating with former India and Royal Challengers Bangalore batting coach Sanjay Bangar have emerged on social media platforms.
Virat has experienced a significant downturn in his Test performances, a trend that has persisted since the beginning of 2020. Throughout 39 Test matches since then, he has accumulated only 2,028 runs at an average of 30.72, achieving merely three centuries and nine half-centuries. His highest score during this period is 186.
