Royal Challengers Bengaluru concluded a decade-long wait on Monday by securing a victory against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium. In a match filled with dramatic moments, RCB maintained their composure in the closing overs, ultimately earning two vital points. With this win, Rajat Patidar and his teammates have returned to form, now occupying the third position on the points table with three victories out of four matches. In contrast, Mumbai Indians find themselves struggling at the eighth position, having managed only one win in five matches.

The Bengaluru team was energized by their significant triumph, particularly as former captain Virat Kohli celebrated exuberantly in the center of the field after the fifth delivery of the final over, following the dismissal of Naman Dhir. Krunal Pandya, who began his IPL career with MI, delivered a remarkable final over that left Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma in despair, while Kohli reveled in the moment.

Kohli regained his form and achieved an impressive half-century, aggressively facing the MI bowlers, including the returning Jasprit Bumrah, which enabled RCB to surpass the 200-run threshold. His innings of 67 runs included 8 fours and 2 sixes. Conversely, Hardik spearheaded his team's resurgence with a remarkable 42 runs off merely 15 balls at a strike rate of 280, bringing the match within reach. However, his dismissal in the second-to-last over shifted the momentum decisively in favor of RCB.

Krunal Pandya gets the job done

Meanwhile,  Krunal maintained his composure to bowl the final over when Mumbai required 19 runs, but unfortunately, he lost three wickets, including two on the very first two deliveries. The left-arm spinner concluded the match with impressive figures of 4-45, contributing to Bengaluru's third victory in four matches.

Earlier in the game, former MI captain Rohit Sharma struggled once again with the bat, falling to Rohit Sharma for just 17 runs in the second over.

Hardik (42) and left-handed Tilak Varma (56) formed a partnership of 89 runs, igniting the innings with a flurry of boundaries. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Varma, and then Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood claimed Pandya's wicket in the 19th over, disrupting the chase.
