Virat Kohli's Animated Chat with Jadeja After Pathirana Bouncer: Acts Out Helmet Hit Reaction
15 days ago | 5 Views
Following Royal Challengers Bengaluru's impressive 50-run win against Chennai Super Kings, RCB legend Virat Kohli was observed engaging in a lively conversation with CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. The two, who have been friends and teammates since their Under-19 days, were seen chatting on the field after the match concluded. It appeared they were discussing the moment when Kohli was hit on the helmet by a bouncer from the fast bowler Matheesa Pathirana.
During the eleventh over of RCB's innings, Pathirana bowled his second over. On the very first delivery of that over, Kohli attempted to play a sharp short ball but was caught off guard by the pace. In an unusual occurrence, Kohli was struck on the helmet and had to undergo concussion protocols administered by the physiotherapist.
In his conversation with Jadeja, Kohli was seen recounting the incident, gesturing to the center of his forehead and laughing as he reflected on the lighter side of the situation. Although being hit on the head is one of the more frightening aspects of cricket, there was no injury sustained, despite the delivery being bowled at speeds exceeding 142 km/h by the Sri Lankan bowler.
Kohli's powerful response
Kohli ultimately triumphed over the pacer with his unconventional low bowling action, aggressively targeting him for the remainder of the over. His response was immediate; the very next delivery was met with a powerful pull shot that sailed over the boundary for six runs. Kohli appeared to be in conversation with Jadeja, indicating that the subsequent ball only rose to about chest height, making it significantly easier to clear the boundary.
He then struck the third delivery of the over for another boundary, demonstrating his competitive nature as he responded to Pathirana's challenge with vigor. Pathirana ended up conceding 16 runs in that over, while RCB captain Rajat Patidar also executed a well-timed boundary down the ground to conclude the over effectively.
Although Kohli started off somewhat sluggishly, scoring 31 runs off 30 balls, the quality of his innings improved as CSK's batting performance revealed that the Chepauk pitch was more challenging than RCB's batting suggested. In the end, a total of 196 proved to be too steep for the hosts, as Josh Hazlewood's early strikes left CSK struggling to remain competitive in their chase. RCB now sits comfortably at the top of the IPL table with two victories out of two matches and a strong net run-rate.
