Virat Kohli’s Animated Celebration Sparks Tense Moment with Shreyas Iyer After IPL Clash

Virat Kohli delivered an outstanding performance against the Punjab Kings on Sunday, helping the Royal Challengers Bengaluru maintain their flawless away record in IPL 2025. Kohli finished with an impressive 73 runs off 54 balls during the chase, leading his team to successfully reach the 157-run target with 7 wickets remaining and plenty of balls to spare. However, what caught fans' attention after the match was Kohli's playful celebration directed at PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer.

Over the years, Kohli and Iyer have enjoyed a strong friendship, but their interaction after the game was noticeably chilly. Once Jitesh Sharma secured the win for Punjab Kings, Kohli animatedly turned to Iyer, celebrating in a lighthearted manner that seemed to poke fun at his fellow Indian teammate. Unfortunately, Iyer didn’t seem to find it funny.

When Iyer approached for the traditional handshake, it was clear that he wasn’t feeling very friendly. Kohli, still laughing, attempted to ease the tension, but Iyer remained serious and engaged in a somewhat strained conversation, indicating he wasn’t thrilled about the celebration.

The RCB batter didn't show much reaction and just kept chuckling before heading off to greet the other players.

This wasn’t the first time Kohli displayed some flair during the match; earlier, when he helped run out Nehal Wadhera during PBKS' innings, he gave the young player a dramatic send-off. Later, during the run chase, Kohli had a playful moment with Harpreet Brar, chatting with him in Punjabi and mentioning that he knew his coach.

Despite this, RCB secured a crucial away win that pushed them back into the top four of the points table. With 10 points from 8 matches, RCB remains unbeaten in away games, although they are still searching for their first victory at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

In the 157-run chase, Devdutt Padikkal shone alongside Kohli, scoring a rapid 61 off just 35 balls, hitting five fours and four sixes. On the bowling side, both Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma took two wickets each while keeping it tight, giving away just 25 and 26 runs in their four overs, respectively.
