Virat Kohli and Phil Salt Set Up for Tough Bumrah Test by Teammate

Jasprit Bumrah has rejoined the Mumbai Indians squad just in time for their match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Wankhede Stadium. The five-time champions announced his return to the camp on the eve of the clash with RCB, following confirmation of his fitness from the National Cricket Academy. MI has faced challenges this season without Bumrah, managing only one victory in four matches, and they are now eager to improve their performance with the return of their leading bowler.
Bumrah, recognized as one of the top bowlers across all formats, is set to be available for selection in the upcoming game against RCB, as stated by MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene. He participated in net practice on Sunday after arriving at the MI camp on Saturday night, demonstrating his dedication to the team. After nearly four months away from competitive cricket, having last played in the fifth Test against Australia earlier this year, he is eager to make his comeback.
RCB player Tim David, who was Bumrah's teammate at MI last season, commented on the significance of the pacer's return for the crucial match on Monday.
David understands the challenge posed by Bumrah and has encouraged RCB openers Virat Kohli and Phil Salt to target the MI bowler right from the first over to apply early pressure.
“Bumrah is widely acknowledged as the best bowler in the game, and that’s the challenge we want to embrace at RCB," David remarked during the pre-match press conference. “To progress in this tournament, we must defeat the top teams and the best players. Ideally, Bumrah will bowl the first over tomorrow night, and if the opening batsman scores 4 or 6 off his first ball, that would send a strong message. It’s fantastic to have him back in the tournament because the game is undoubtedly better with him participating," he added.
“Just try and get my toes out of the way”
At the same time, David is prepared to face the top competitors in the field, although he acknowledged that he makes an effort to keep his toes clear of Bumrah's deadly yorkers.
"I will simply aim to move my toes out of the line; he possesses a highly effective yorker. He is an exceptional bowler, and delivering outstanding performances against the strongest teams and players provides some of the most rewarding experiences for a player. Therefore, I am eager to be tested by the best, and I am looking forward to that," he stated.
