The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will reignite their rivalry in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Chepauk Stadium this Friday. The franchise shared a video on its X account showing Kohli engaging with fans, signing autographs, and taking selfies with the crowd that gathered during RCB's practice session at Chepauk.

Many fans donned CSK's yellow, while others sported the blue of the Indian national team. Nevertheless, they all appeared genuinely excited at the chance to interact with Kohli, which is hardly surprising. With the 2023 season speculated to be MS Dhoni's final one in the IPL, stadiums across the nation have been adorned in yellow, regardless of team allegiance, whenever CSK played.

Kohli is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in cricket history and holds the record for the most centuries in One Day Internationals (ODIs). Consequently, fans throughout the nation are always excited to see him play, even when he represents RCB against their preferred franchise.

This marks Kohli's first Indian Premier League (IPL) season following his retirement from T20 Internationals. He concluded his T20 career after the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he delivered a player-of-the-match performance that led India to their first ICC title in 11 years. However, Kohli experienced a surprising decline in form during India's challenging 2024/25 Test season, yet he demonstrated that his ODI prowess remained strong, playing a pivotal role in India's triumph at the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Kohli has also made an impressive start to this IPL season, guiding RCB to victory in their opening match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, scoring an unbeaten 59 runs off 36 balls. KKR, who at one point appeared poised to exceed a score of 220, ended up with 174/8. Kohli formed a dynamic 95-run opening partnership with Phil Salt, who contributed 56 runs off 31 balls, effectively diminishing KKR's momentum.
