Virat Kohli Teases Shreyas Iyer Over Fielding Mistake with Mimicry in IND vs NZ Champions Trophy Match

Virat Kohli exhibited a spirited demeanor on the field during his 300th One Day International match, where India faced New Zealand in the Champions Trophy at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Although the former captain did not achieve a significant score in this milestone game, his positive attitude remained intact as he relished the experience of fielding while India successfully defended a target of 250 runs, maintaining their unbeaten status in the group stage.

The 36-year-old shared a humorous exchange with Shreyas Iyer during the match. Iyer, who had contributed a determined half-century with the bat, encountered a mishap in the field. Positioned within the 30-yard circle, he struggled to gather the ball and spun around in confusion while attempting to locate it. Following this incident, Kohli engaged with him in the next over, playfully imitating Iyer's movements to tease him near the boundary line.

A video capturing this amusing moment quickly gained popularity on social media, as fans appreciated Kohli's playful side.

Earlier, with the bat, Shreyas Iyer stabilised India's sinking ship by raising a 98-run stand with Axar Patel and struck 79 from 98 deliveries, a perfect blend of aggression and caution. The Men in Blue lost the top order cheaply with just 30 on the scoreboard in 6.3 overs as Rohit Sharma (15) and Shubman Gill (2) failed to get going, while Kohli, in his 300th ODI, also departed for just 11. Pandya hit a run-a-ball 45 as he smashed four fours and two sixes to boost the total on a sluggish pitch.

Varun Chakravarthy's fifer guided IND to comfortable win

Matt Henry achieved a remarkable five-wicket haul in his eight overs, while the fielders contributed significantly to limit India to under 250 runs.

Although chasing a target of 250 should have been manageable for New Zealand's proficient batting lineup, they encountered difficulties against India's spin attack, spearheaded by Varun Chakravarthy (5/42), ultimately being dismissed for 205 in 45.3 overs. Kane Williamson's determined innings of 81 proved to be in vain. India is set to compete against Australia in the first semi-final on Tuesday in Dubai, while New Zealand will face South Africa the following day in Lahore.
