The IPL 2025 season produced yet another exciting moment on Sunday when Virat Kohli and KL Rahul engaged in a heated discussion during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s match against Delhi Capitals. The intense incident, recorded on video and trending across social media, took place during RCB’s innings, with Kohli at bat and Rahul behind the stumps. Although the precise reason for the altercation was not evident in the live footage, former India spinner Piyush Chawla explained why the two Indian teammates were involved in a passionate dialogue.

Chawla, who commented on the incident after RCB’s victory, indicated that Kohli appeared dissatisfied with DC taking considerable time to set up the field and voiced his concerns to Rahul. The wicketkeeper, on his part, became frustrated by Kohli’s remarks, arguing that it would be unproductive for his team to waste time on field placements due to the risk of slow over-rate penalties.

While the on-field rivalry between Kohli and Rahul caught attention, the night was dominated by all-rounder Krunal Pandya. Delivering a brilliant performance under pressure, Krunal struck an unbeaten 73 off 47 balls – his first IPL half-century since 2016 – to lead RCB to a six-wicket triumph.

In pursuit of a manageable 163 on a challenging surface, RCB faltered early at 26/3, but the alliance between Krunal and Kohli shifted the momentum.

The pair formed a game-altering 119-run partnership off 84 balls, stabilizing the innings with a blend of poise and solid hitting. Kohli executed the anchor role flawlessly, accumulating a composed 51 off 47 balls. His signature straight drive off Mitchell Starc was a notable highlight, but Kohli was unable to complete the chase, falling in the 18th over when RCB needed just 18 more runs for victory.

The loss of Kohli didn’t impact RCB, as Tim David completed the chase with his explosive batting, smashing a quickfire 19* off just 5 balls to secure the victory in the following over.

Earlier in the contest, RCB’s bowlers set the tone by stifling Delhi Capitals during the middle overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/33) and the spinners exerted constant pressure, limiting DC to a modest 162/8. Despite the setback, however, DC remains solidly in the playoff race, having lost only three out of their nine matches. RCB, on the other hand, climbed to the top of the points table with their seventh victory in ten games, maintaining their unbeaten streak away from home.
