Virat Kohli, India's batting stalwart, returned to the nets on Saturday as he prepares for his comeback to domestic cricket. Kohli confirmed his availability for Delhi's Ranji Trophy match against Railways, scheduled from January 30 to February 2. This will mark Kohli's first appearance in domestic first-class cricket in over 12 years, having last played for Delhi in 2012.
During a practice session in Mumbai, Kohli was seen working alongside India's former batting coach, Sanjay Bangar. A video from the session, showing Kohli receiving throwdowns, quickly made its way to social media on Saturday.

The 36-year-old has been going through a challenging phase with the bat in recent months. Kohli managed just 190 runs across five Tests in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, which included a century in Perth. India suffered a 3-1 defeat in the series, with Kohli’s recurring dismissals throughout the five matches drawing criticism.
Kohli has struggled for form since his return to Test cricket after the T20 World Cup victory last year. He couldn’t score a single half-century in the five home Tests between August and October (against Bangladesh and New Zealand), with his highest score being an unbeaten 47. Despite a century in the first Test in Perth against Australia, Kohli failed to build on the momentum.
After the series, the BCCI required India’s international stars to be available for Ranji selection. With the return of India's premier first-class tournament following the Vijay Hazare Trophy, several Team India players – including captain Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer (all for Mumbai), Ravindra Jadeja (Saurashtra), Rishabh Pant (Delhi), and Shubman Gill (Punjab) – participated.
Although Kohli was unavailable for Delhi's match due to a neck sprain, he confirmed his availability for the game against Railways on January 30.
Kohli will return to international cricket during the ODI series against England, starting February 6. The batter will be aiming to regain his form ahead of the crucial Champions Trophy, which begins on February 19.
