India commenced their training session for the Champions Trophy on Sunday at the ICC Academy in Dubai. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the team will kick off their campaign on Thursday with a Group A match against Bangladesh at the Dubai International Stadium, followed by a highly anticipated encounter against Pakistan at the same venue over the weekend.

As reported by the Times of India, Virat Kohli was observed conversing with the team's local manager approximately 15 minutes prior to the team's bus arrival, following a demanding three-hour practice session. Upon the manager's return, he brought a paper bag containing food from a well-known establishment.

"The bag included several boxes of Kohli's post-session meal. While the other players were busy packing their kit bags, Kohli took the time to refuel and even reserved a box for later," the report stated.

In response to the team's disappointing performance during the tour of Australia, the BCCI recently issued a 10-point directive. One of the stipulations stated: 'Players are no longer permitted to bring personal staff such as chefs, security personnel, or assistants on tours unless explicitly authorized by the BCCI.'

Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer put support staff on alert

The report additionally noted that Virat Kohli was the first player to arrive at the nets, soon followed by Rohit and Hardik Pandya. One group engaged in throwdowns, another faced pace bowlers, while the final session was dedicated to spin bowlers. The two senior batsmen exhibited patience during their practice, focusing on acclimatizing to the ball, whereas Hardik, alongside Shreyas Iyer, adopted an aggressive approach against the bowlers they encountered. Their intensity prompted the support staff to remain vigilant. "Keep your eyes on the ball, it's coming," one member of the support team repeatedly cautioned the security personnel and media positioned near the boundary.

In contrast, Kohli and Rohit faced challenges from Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Shami, who bowled for nearly an hour. The former captain was tested with deliveries targeting the stumps, executing flick shots and on-drives, while the 37-year-old adeptly handled incoming deliveries and yorkers from the left-arm pacer.
