Virat Kohli Ready and Eager for India vs England 2nd ODI: Sitanshu Kotak's Statement is Welcomed by All

Virat Kohli has successfully recovered from the knee injury that prevented him from participating in the first ODI against England. The former captain of India is now prepared to play in the second match scheduled in Cuttack on Sunday, as announced by batting coach Sitanshu Kotak on Saturday. Kohli had experienced swelling in his right knee the night prior to the series opener, and despite his efforts to achieve match fitness, he was unable to do so.
Kohli's absence allowed Shreyas Iyer to be included in the Playing XI, where he made a significant impact by scoring a commanding half-century to aid India's chase. With Kohli's return to fitness, he is expected to reclaim the No. 3 batting position, which may result in Yashasvi Jaiswal being dropped, thereby allowing Shubman Gill to return to the opening position.
"Virat Kohli is fit to play the 2nd ODI against England in Cuttack on Sunday," Kotak stated on the eve of the match.
Kohli's full recovery signifies that he will be participating in his first ODI since August of the previous year. With only two matches remaining before the Champions Trophy, it is crucial for Kohli to regain his form and contribute runs, especially following a disappointing performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The one-day format is considered Kohli's area of expertise, and it is anticipated that this format will facilitate his return to prolific run-scoring.
Kohli at Cuttack
Kohli returns to a venue that has not been particularly favorable for him. At Cuttack's Barabati Stadium, he has participated in four One Day Internationals, accumulating a mere 118 runs with an average below 30, his highest score being 85 against the West Indies. Notably, it was in his inaugural match at Cuttack against the West Indies that Kohli was dismissed for just 3 runs. This was followed by two more underwhelming performances, where he scored 22 against Sri Lanka in 2014 and 8 against England in 2017.
