Virat Kohli Provoked by Aussie Fan After Dismissal; Official Steps In to Calm Tensions

Virat Kohli, the star batter for Team India, lost his temper with a fan after what seemed like some provocation as he made his way back to the dressing room following his dismissal on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test on Friday. Kohli was looking sharp during his innings, showing great focus, especially when leaving balls outside the off-stump. However, the run-out of Yashasvi Jaiswal seemed to throw him off his game, leading to a nick off a delivery outside off-stump that ended his innings at 36.

As Kohli walked off after a solid 86-ball performance, the Australian crowd booed him loudly. While he initially kept his cool, a comment from a spectator seemed to get under his skin.

He turned back, heading towards the fan, clearly upset. It took an official stepping in and placing a hand on Kohli’s shoulder to defuse the situation and guide him back to the dressing room, encouraging him to brush off the insults and move on.

Kohli is under fire from Australian fans after a controversial incident with Sam Konstas on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test. The two had a bit of a scuffle, bumping shoulders while Konstas was batting. Things got heated between them until Usman Khawaja stepped in to cool things off.

As a result of his actions, the 36-year-old Indian batsman was hit with a 20 percent fine on his match fees. The Australian media and former players like Ricky Ponting are now pushing for a tougher penalty for Kohli.

On Day 2, the Australian crowd let Kohli have it with some boos while India was fielding. The Indian star, stationed on the boundary, egged them on, encouraging them to boo even louder.

Kohli and Jaiswal's late dismissals gave Australia the edge in the Test match once more. The pair had put together a solid 102-run partnership for the third wicket before Jaiswal was run out for 82. At the close of play, Rishabh Pant (6*) and Ravindra Jadeja (4*) remained not out, with India sitting at 164/5.
