Virat Kohli Fans Target Arshad Warsi on Instagram After Mistaken Identity Mix-Up with GT Bowler

In an unusual case of mistaken identity on social media, a group of Virat Kohli's supporters inundated Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi's Instagram account with hostile messages on Wednesday, following Kohli's dismissal in the IPL 2025 match against the Gujarat Titans. Fast bowler Arshad Khan took Kohli's wicket, limiting him to just seven runs.

Kohli's return to Bengaluru for Royal Challengers Bangalore's first home game of the season was underwhelming, as he managed only seven runs off six balls, including a single boundary. Arshad delivered a shorter ball that caused Kohli to feel cramped while attempting a pull shot, resulting in a catch to the fielder at deep backward square.

After Kohli's dismissal, bewildered fans directed their ire at Warsi on his Instagram, targeting a post about Ajay Devgn that was only five days old. One user issued a threat, stating, "Dekh lunga terko (I will see you)," while many others expressed their frustration with comments like, "Kohli ko out kyu kia (why did you dismiss Kohli)" accompanied by angry emojis. Another fan chimed in, referencing Warsi's famous character from the film Munna Bhai MBBS, asking, "Ee Circuit, tu Kohli ka wicket kyun liya re?"

This incident is not the first instance of Kohli's fans confusing names. Last month, during the Champions Trophy, electronics company Philips faced backlash after New Zealand cricketer Glenn Phillips made a remarkable catch in a group-stage match.

RCB lose by 8 wickets

Gujarat Titans dealt RCB their first defeat of the season by achieving an eight-wicket victory in Bengaluru, thanks to Mohammed Siraj's impressive three-wicket performance and Jos Buttler's half-century.

Chasing a target of 170 runs after RCB's Liam Livingstone scored a resilient 54 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Gujarat successfully reached their goal with 13 balls remaining. Buttler contributed significantly with an unbeaten 73 runs off 39 deliveries, while Sai Sudharsan added 49 runs to the total.

Buttler reached his fifty with a six off Livingstone in the 15th over and showcased a series of bold shots to guide his team to victory alongside impact player Sherfane Rutherford, who finished with 30 runs not out.
