One of the hot topics from the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy was Virat Kohli's shoulder bump on Australia's debut opener, Sam Konstas. Former England fast bowler Steve Harmison thinks Kohli got off easy and should have faced a ban.

On the first morning of the fourth Test, the 19-year-old Konstas surprised the Indian bowlers by taking a risk against Jasprit Bumrah, which threw him off his game. This tactic worked, and India quickly turned up the heat on Konstas. In the midst of all this, Kohli made contact with Konstas during an over.

Harmison shared his thoughts on the incident, saying, “What Kohli did was completely out of line. He should have been banned for that. I really admire Kohli and all he’s done for cricket, but there’s a limit, and he crossed it.” Instead of a suspension, Kohli ended up losing 20 percent of his match fee.

A series to move on from for Kohli

Kohli had a rough time during the series in Australia, scoring only 190 runs with an average below 24. He did hit an unbeaten century in the first Test in Perth, but overall, he struggled to find his rhythm. He kept making the same mistake, edging the ball outside off stump to the wicketkeeper or slips. This led to criticism about his lack of patience, as he kept getting out in the same way throughout the series.

Former Australian wicketkeeper Brad Haddin pointed out that Kohli's reaction to Sam Konstas likely gave the Australian team a boost. “He kept falling for the same strategy. This time, the young guy got under his skin. Kohli's reaction would have made anyone in the dressing room think, we've got them here, we've really got India on the ropes,” Haddin said.
