Virat Kohli hit another impressive milestone in his illustrious career by scoring 13,000 runs in T20 cricket during the IPL 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. He made history by reaching this mark with his 17th run in the first innings, becoming the first Indian and only the fifth player ever to achieve this feat.

Additionally, Kohli is now the second-fastest player to reach this milestone, accomplishing it in his 386th T20 innings, just behind Chris Gayle, who did it in 381 innings. Last season, fans witnessed Kohli surpass 12,000 T20 runs, where he was also the second-fastest to reach that number, again following Gayle, who achieved it in 360 innings.

The shining career of Virat Kohli

Kohli was recently part of India's squad that clinched the Champions Trophy in 2025, adding to his impressive list of achievements that includes the 2011 ODI World Cup, the 2013 Champions Trophy, and the 2024 T20 World Cup. He made history as the first player to rack up 20,000 runs in a decade and was honored as the ICC Male Cricketer of the Decade for 2011 to 2020.

Throughout his career, Kohli has bagged 10 ICC awards, making him the most decorated player in the history of international cricket. He has also been named ODI Player of the Year four times—in 2012, 2017, 2018, and 2023.

Following his standout performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup final, where he was named Player of the Match, he announced his retirement from T20 internationals. He has won the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy twice, in 2017 and 2018, and in 2018, he achieved a remarkable feat by winning all three major awards: the Garfield Sobers Trophy, ODI Player of the Year, and Test Player of the Year. He holds the record for the most Player of the Series awards and ranks second for Player of the Match awards across all formats.

Despite his stellar career, Kohli has yet to secure an IPL title with RCB and is no longer the captain. After Faf du Plessis left, Rajat Patidar took over the captaincy.
