Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli reflected on his childhood friendship with Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday while undergoing treatment in a hospital. He expressed gratitude to the legendary batsman for his blessings. The 52-year-old's remarks followed his admission to a private hospital in Thane district, where medical assessments indicated the presence of clots in his brain.

In an interview with ANI, when Kambli was inquired about his condition after reports confirmed that he was stable, the former left-handed batsman responded by singing the renowned 1977 Queen classic, "We Are the Champions."

He further stated, “I am feeling better now...I will never part with cricket because I cherish the memories of the centuries and double centuries I have scored...We have three left-handers in the family.”

When told that his former India teammates, including Sachin, have been praying for his speedy recovery, Kambli said: “When I wasn't well, he (Sachin) said he has his blessings. I am thankful to him.”

Vinod Kambli admitted to Thane hospital

Kambli was admitted to the hospital by one of his admirers, who is also the proprietor of the medical facility located in the Kalher area of Bhiwandi, Thane district. Dr. Vivek Trivedi, the physician attending to the former Indian cricketer, disclosed that Kambli initially reported symptoms of a urinary infection and cramps, which led to his hospitalization. However, subsequent examinations conducted by the medical team at Akruti Hospital revealed the presence of clots in his brain, as stated by Dr. Trivedi. Kambli's condition is under continuous observation, and further medical assessments are scheduled for Tuesday, according to the doctor. Additionally, Dr. Trivedi mentioned that S. Singh, the hospital administrator, has committed to providing Kambli with free medical treatment for life at this facility.

Kambli, who represented India in 17 Test matches and 104 One Day Internationals from 1993 to 2000, recently participated in the inauguration of the memorial for the esteemed coach Ramakant Achrekar at Shivaji Park in Mumbai, where Sachin Tendulkar was also in attendance.
