Varun Chakravarthy played a pivotal role in India's ICC Champions Trophy campaign, establishing himself as arguably the team's most effective bowler. He consistently disrupted opposing batting lineups, adding a significant threat during the middle overs. Notably, he delivered an impressive performance in the finals against New Zealand, taking 2 wickets for 45 runs, which contributed to India's successful chase of 254 runs to secure the trophy.

Although he may present a calm demeanour on the field, going about his duties with minimal fanfare, Chakravarthy has also showcased his lighter side by engaging in humorous exchanges online throughout the tournament. Following the victory, he made a playful remark directed at critics who suggested that India's success was aided by the advantage of playing all their matches in Dubai.

On his Instagram, Chakravarthy shared celebratory photos, one of which features him enjoying a cup of coffee while holding the Champions Trophy in a hotel setting, accompanied by a witty caption: “A lot of distance was travelled to get a taste of this Cup.”

India's extended stay in Dubai throughout the three-week tournament undoubtedly provided a significant advantage. However, the individual performances of Chakravarthy highlighted that India's success was primarily attributed to the skill and depth within their team.

Concerns were raised regarding the favourable scheduling for India in contrast to teams like New Zealand, who had to navigate a demanding travel schedule, moving from Pakistan to Dubai for their group match against India, returning to Lahore for their semifinal against South Africa, and then back to Dubai for the final. The most notable criticism arose when South Africa was compelled to travel to Dubai amid uncertainties regarding the location of their semifinal, only to return to Lahore on short notice.

Despite these challenges, India capitalized on their advantages, culminating in a strong performance in the final after a smooth progression through the group stages and a victory over Australia in the semifinal. Varun emerged as a pivotal player, achieving a five-wicket haul against New Zealand in the group stage and claiming the crucial first wicket of Will Young, setting the tone for India's triumph and securing their first ICC ODI trophy since 2013.
