Mohammed Siraj demonstrated a remarkable resurgence on Day 4 of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. After finishing wicketless in Australia's first innings, which led to scrutiny regarding his position in the playing XI, Siraj made a significant impact in the second innings by securing three vital wickets. The Indian fast bowler showcased his best performance, dismissing key players Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne.

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar expressed his admiration for Siraj's efforts on Day 4, noting that his determination for success elevated his performance, infusing his bowling with renewed energy.

"Ultimately, Mohammed Siraj understood the necessity of delivering his best performance. He approached the game with increased vigour and effort. Sometimes, that is all that is required. This was evident in his speed, which was four or five kilometres faster than in the first innings, where he was clocked around 134 to 135 kilometres per hour. On this occasion, he reached speeds touching 140. It is often about focusing on the task at hand and disregarding other concerns, which is precisely what he did, driven by his desire for success," Manjrekar remarked on Star Sports.

Throughout the series, Siraj has taken 16 wickets and has faced criticism for not adequately supporting Jasprit Bumrah. However, on Day 4, he rose to the occasion, matching Bumrah's performance, who took four wickets, and securing crucial dismissals at pivotal moments in the match.

Manjrekar emphasized that Siraj has consistently risen to challenges, which has endeared him to Indian cricket over the years. "When faced with adversity, Mohammed Siraj has repeatedly delivered, which is why he has been embraced by Indian cricket for his indomitable spirit and temperament. He recognized that this was the moment to excel," he concluded.

Mohammed Siraj exhibited remarkable enthusiasm, approaching with a clear purpose, according to Justin Langer.

Veteran Australian cricketer Justin Langer commended Siraj for his performance on Day 4, highlighting the essence of Test cricket where a player can swiftly silence their detractors.

"There were doubts about Siraj's inclusion in the Sydney Test match, yet today he showcased remarkable energy, running in with purpose, displaying agility, and delivering an exceptional bowling performance. This is a significant achievement for him. That’s the essence of Test cricket—circumstances can shift dramatically in a moment. It was an outstanding spell of bowling," Langer remarked on Star Sports.
