At the same time, Konstas, positioned at the non-striker's end, attempted to provoke Bumrah and catch him off guard. The two exchanged words, leading to intervention from the umpires. Ultimately, Bumrah had the upper hand when he dismissed Khawaja, who was caught behind. In a display of triumph, Bumrah charged toward Konstas, locking eyes with him. “I’m not entirely certain about what transpired; it’s quite an intriguing situation,” he remarked after the final session.

“(Sam) is a very self-assured young man, and that’s typical of youngsters these days; they tend to be quite aggressive. He possesses all the necessary skills and talent to support his confidence, so I hope he has a successful day tomorrow and accumulates some runs,” he continued.

Regarding his eagerly awaited confrontation with Bumrah on Day 2, Webster stated, “I believe there is certainly a strategy to adopt when batting on this wicket. However, Jasprit is a world-class bowler, and there is no doubt he will pose a challenge to our entire batting lineup. His precision with lengths and lines is exceptional, and it will be difficult on a wicket that will provide him with considerable assistance.”

Konstas also faced criticism from fans and former players, including ex-Australian cricketer Tom Moody. During the fourth Test, he was involved in a shoulder bump incident with Kohli, which was followed by a verbal exchange.
