Team India Arrival Live Updates: There are two highlights to this day for the players. One is happening right now as they meet the Prime Minister, the next will be the open top bus parade from Nariman Point, along Marine Drive to the Wankhede Stadium over two hours. This is the open-top bus that will be used for the parade.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: There is one more important difference between the jerseys that the team wore at the 2024 T20 World Cup and the one they are wearing today. There are two stars above the BCCI logo, as opposed to the one that has been there since 2007. It has taken 17 years for that star count to double. Regardless of what changes happen to the jersey from here on, those two stars will stay constant and can only be added on.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: The players and coaching staff are meeting the Prime Minister and the session started at 11am. They will have breakfast before making their way back to the Maurya.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: We had stated earlier that what the players and coaching staff are wearing today is the jersey they wore during the 2024 T20 World Cup with the words “CHAMPIONS” printed underneath the country's name. Sanju Samson has now given us a proper look of the shirt in an Instagram story.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Right, here are the images of the team bus entering the PM's residence. Remember, the meet begins at 11am, the team will have breakfast with the Prime Minister and then head back for the hotel, from where they go back to the airport and catch a flight for Mumbai.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Right there are visuals of the team bus entering the premises of the Prime Minister's residence. The meeting is likely to start at 11am, the players will be having breakfast with PM Modi.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Here we go then, the convoy has moved. It takes about 15 odd minutes to go from the ITC Maurya to the PM's residence. Considering the fact that the roads have been cordoned off and there is going to be no traffic for this bus to navigate through, the team should cover this distance in about 10 minutes.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Right, the police escort has fired up those sirens, the players and coaching staff are in the bus. The families of the players and staff were with the team on the way from the airport but that is not the case this time, which is why they are using only one of the two buses.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: We mentioned earlier that the players are wearing the jerseys that the team wore during the 2024 T20 World Cup. Well it is the jersey but with a difference, they have the word "CHAMPIONS" printed beneath the name of the team in the front of the shirt.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: The chefs ask the other players who walked by to look at the cake but it was Rahul Dravid who finally cut it. He gave the chefs a thumbs up as well. We can also see Axar Patel taking a selfie with a member of the hotel staff before getting inside the bus.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Rohit Sharma has cut the cake, but he didn't eat it. The two buses are beginning to move out of the hotel and it is the Prime Minister's residence where the meeting will take place, as opposed to his office but we will have confirmation of that shortly. The players are wearing the jerseys they wore during the tournament.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: 10am to 12 noon is the window for the Indian team to meet the Prime Minister. They are expected to come down from their rooms any time now. The crowds near the hotel have only swollen since the time that the players arrived.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: We earlier looked at Indian captain Rohit Sharma's number. Now let's take a look at a career that is probably the greatest ever seen in T20 internationals. Virat Kohli played his first T20 World Cup in 2012. He was the highest run-scorer in the 2014 T20 World Cup, where India finished runners-up to Sri Lanka, the second-highest run scorer in the 2016 T20 World Cup where India lost to eventual champions West Indies in the semi-finals, the highest runscorer in the 2022 T20 World Cup where India lost to England in the semi-finals. He was the highest run scorer of all time in T20Is a number of times in his career, with the record being almost a weekly battle between him and Rohit at one point. Having made his debut in 2010 against Zimbabwe, Kohli has scored 4188 runs in 125 matches at a stunning average of 48.69 and strike rate of 137.04. He has 38 half-centuries to his name and one century.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: India weren't really challenged too much throughout this T20 World Cup. Australia were always facing an uphill struggle against them in the Super 8, although they did well in the steep chase for a while. But the only times in this tournament when it really looked like India could lose a match was going towards the last five overs of the final and in the first half of Pakistan's chase during the clash between the arch-rivals in the group stage.

India were all out for just 119 runs with Pakistan pacers Naseem Shah, Mohammad Amir, Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi making the most of the pace-friendly conditions in New York. Pakistan looked like they were cruising in the first 10 overs of their chase and then Jasprit Bumrah led the way as India starved them for runs. Mohammad Rizwan trying a big shot against the Indian pace ace and perishing in the 15th over was the decisive turning point and India ended up winning by six runs.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: He is a man who knows a thing or two about winning World Cups, the BCCI president. Roger Binny, famously part of Kapil Dev's team India that won the 1983 World Cup, has arrived at the ITC Maurya. He will be joining Team India as they celebrate their ICC T20 World Cup triumph.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: The team is expected to cut a cake prepared by the hotel before they leave for the PMO. The cake is blue at the bottom, orange in the middle and white at the top, with the bottom two showing the colours of the Indian jersey. At the top of it all is a replica of the T20 World Cup trophy.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Both India and South Africa had gone into the final in Barbados without losing a match. It meant that one of the two teams was going to go unbeaten throughout the tournament, something that had never happened before in the T20 World Cup. In fact the last time it happened at any ICC tournament was in 2013 when MS Dhoni's India did it. The last time it happened at any World Cup was when Australia won the ODI title in 2007 at the same venue as that of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Fresh visuals from the ITC Maurya shows that it wasn't just Suryakumar Yadav who did the bhangra after exiting the team bus. Yashasvi Jaiswal briefly joined him while captain Rohit Sharma himself shook a leg or two.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Team India Arrival Live Updates: Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday sought a report from Air India after a scheduled flight it was to operate was allegedly deployed for flying out India’s victorious T20 World Cup team from Barbados. DGCA’s step came following reports that the airline pulled out its Boeing 777 originally scheduled to operate a regular flight from Newark to Delhi for the trip out of Barbados, causing difficulties for passengers.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Fresh visuals from the ITC Maurya shows Suryakumar Yadav showing that he doesn't have too many problems as far as energy is concerned despite the long flight from Barbados and the long day he has ahead of him. He got out of the team bus and danced his heart out with the part of the welcome party that was doing bhangra and playing the dhol.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Rohit Sharma's T20I debut came in India's 2007 T20 World Cup group match against England in Durban. He ended up not batting at all in that match but the youngster became an important part of MS Dhoni's title-winning team over the course of the tournament. He has held the title of highest-ever T20I run scorer a number of times throughout his career, often being overtaken, and snatching it from, his longtime teammate Virat Kohli. Rohit finishes as the highest run scorer with 4231 runs at a strike rate of 140.89 and average of 32.05. He finishes with 32 half-centuries and a record five centuries, the joint most by any batter in men's T20Is alongwith Glenn Maxwell.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: The two seniormost players in this team announced their retirement from the format after the final. Rohit and Kohli have been the two most dominant batters in T20 internationals for a number of years. There was even a period not too long ago when they kept exchanging the no.1 spot in the all-time highest T20I run scorers' list. Rohit had been with the Indian team when they won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 and has played every edition of the tournament since. Kohli retires as the all-time highest run scorer in the history of T20 internationals.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: The BCCI has just posted a video of visuals from inside the flight as the team made its way from Barbados to Delhi. "Amazing feeling man," Mohammed Siraj can be heard saying in the video. "We have worked a lot for this. I am so blessed to have this trophy in my hands today and to be part of this team that has won it."

Team India Arrival Live Updates: The BCCI's first post today to announce the team's arrival was a cute little video showing the team looking at the trophy affectionately and cradling it in their arms. The ITC Maurya is a hub of activity and it is drizzling slightly in Delhi as well.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: They have about two hours before they have to be ready and out of their rooms for the meeting with the Prime Minister. Once that is over at 12 noon, they head back to the ITC Maurya, a quick change and then a run back to the airport. They are expected to arrive in Mumbai by 4pm. This is all after a 15-hour flight from Barbados.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: So the Indian team is set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the time period for that will be from 10am to 12 noon. However, the meeting will take place at the PM's office, as opposed to the PM's residence which is where it was supposed to happen earlier.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: We have some more visuals of the team buses travelling from the airport to the ITC Maurya. It was an extensive security cordon that accompanied the buses to the hotel. The window for the players to meet PM Modi is between 10am and 12 noon.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Well Rohit Sharma could be seen with his family but the trophy was with local boy Rishabh Pant. We could then seen head coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathour followed by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suryakumar Yadav. Jaiswal has to fly out to Harare in a few days, remember, to join the rest of the Indian team captained by Shubman Gill for their five-match T20I series in Zimbabwe.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: There is a grand reception that has been arranged at the ITC Maurya as we see the two buses entering the hotel gates. Fans everywhere you see despite the fact that we are still fairly early on a Thursday morning.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: One side of the road has been cordoned off and so there are no chances of the team being stuck in the traffic jams that are ubiquitous in that route from the Delhi airport to central Delhi. The buses are racing past those jams, where people can be seen getting out of their vehicles and filming. Well, who said the victory parade is starting at Nariman point, it's already started.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Well we didn't quite see Rohit Sharma with the trophy walking out of the terminal and into the bus but they are there. The two buses have moved. It is a huge security convoy that is travelling with the team.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: From the airport the team travel to the ITC Maurya about 12km away in Chanakyapuri. The hotel has revealed a cake in the colours of the Indian jersey that they will be cutting there. From there, they travel to meet PM Narendra Modi with whom they will have breakfast at the Prime Minister's residence.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Well we just saw Suryakumar Yadav and then Hardik Pandya walk in. Kohli can be seen in the front seat. We then see Jasprit Bumrah as well. Yet to see Rohit Sharma and the T20 World Cup trophy.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Right, the fans at T3 get a glimpse of their heroes at last. Virat Kohli was the first man out, he goes and takes his place inside the bus before the rest of the players. Soon we see Mohammed Siraj followed by Arshdeep Singh, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and a few more members of the Indian staff.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: This T20 World Cup marks the first time that the player of the tournament won that award without scoring a single run. T20s are supposed to be a batter's game and yet, nobody would be able to argue against Bumrah winning this award. He has been sensational in all formats since returning to full-time cricket in August 2023 and in this World Cup, well he was pretty much a cheat code for Rohit Sharma. Bumrah didn't concede a single six all tournament long, maintained a scarcely believable economy rate of 4.17 in the eight matches that he played and took 15 wickets.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: The BCCI has just posted a video with the caption "It's home". Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Shivam Dube, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravindra Jadeja can be seen staring down at the camera lens and smiling. No prizes for guessing what the camera lens is supposed to be and what they are smiling at. They then pick up the T20 World Cup trophy from beside the camera and kiss it

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Virat Kohli, who had struggled to get any runs throughout the tournament, won the player of the match after bailing India out of a horrible start by scoring 76 in 59 balls. He said in the presentation ceremony that this was his last T20I match, thus ending what is probably the greatest T20I career in the nearly two-decade history of this format. Indian captain Rohit Sharma then told reporters in the post-match press conference that he has played his last T20I as well. Ravindra Jadeja announced his retirement from the format the next day.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: To say it was an emotional victory for India on June 29 in Barbados is an understatement. Apart from the fact that most of these players were part of the teams that experienced disappointments in a number of major ICC tournaments in the recent past, it was a game in which India seemed down and out going into the last five overs, with Heinrich Klaasen smashing 24 runs in the 15th over off Axar Patel and brought it down to South Africa needing just 30 runs to win off the last 30 balls. And then, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya led the way as India put up the most extraordinary of chokehold on the flow of runs for South Africa. It came down to the Proteas needing 16 to win off the last over. Pandya started it with a wide full toss, David Miller went big downtown but Suryakumar Yadav swooped in, caught the ball, threw it back up in the air when his momentum took him over the boundary pads, came back in and completed what has now become an iconic catch. Pandya conceded just eight more runs in that over. Cue tears and pandemonium.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: News has filtered through that the team has arrived and suddenly, both the crowd and security outside Terminal 3 has swelled in Delhi. The flight itself can still be seen taxiing around after landing and so any cheers that you may be hearing there for the next 10 minutes at least are false alarms.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: Team India Arrival Live Updates: It should come as no surprise that there will be tight security all along the stretch between the NCPA and the Wankhede Stadium which is just over 2km. That may not mean that fans can't get a glimpse of their favourite players but expect the marine drive to be closed off for that period. Mumbai folks, if you are travelling for this, best would be to use public transport or cabs or else all the best find parking spots. Unless of course you are among the very few in the world that have an apartment in that area. Good for you if that is the case.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: It's official, the eagle has landed. The chartered flight containing the Indian team has landed at the Delhi airport. There may yet be time for the players and staff to walk out of the terminal though. Remember that the BCCI has also brought back the Indian journalists who were there in Barbados in the same flight

Team India Arrival Live Updates: The Indian team is expected to arrive in Mumbai at 4pm. The open top bus parade is expected to start approximately at 5:00pm from the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA), which is situated at Nariman Point and they will go all the way across the Marine Drive over the next two hours with the parade ending at the Wankhede Stadium. Those who know Mumbai would tell you that it would take just over half an hour to walk that distance but this is an open top bus parade and there are expected to be crores of fans on the road.

Team India Arrival Live Updates: It is the wee hours of a Thursday morning but that doesn't matter. Scores of fans are waiting at Delhi's Terminal 3, from where the Indian team is expected to walk out with the trophy. They will be spending the first half of the day at the national capital as they are meeting Prime Minister Modi before heading over to Mumbai.

Team India arrival live updates: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and the other T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricketers will land in New Delhi in a few minutes. Before that, let's take a look at their schedule for today…

  • Scheduled arrival at Delhi airport around 6:20 am
  • Drive to meet PM Narendra Modi
  • Breakfast and felicitation ceremony with PM Modi
  • Fly to Mumbai via a chartered flight
  • A victory parade from from 5 pm onwards in Mumbai
  • The parade is likely to start at Marine Drive and end at the Wankhede Stadium
  • Felicitation ceremony at Wankhede

Team India returns home LIVE updates: Virat Kohli hit a match-winning 76 to help India defeat South Africa in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on Saturday. After lifting the famous trophy, Rohit Sharma's Team India was stranded for three days in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl. The BCCI arranged an Air India special charter flight (AIC24WC) for the Indian squad, its support staff, the players' families and members of the travelling media contingent. The special flight with call sign AIC24WC is set to touch dow in New Delhi.
