Mumbai Indians will commence their IPL 2025 season on Sunday, facing their long-standing rivals, Chennai Super Kings, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The match will particularly focus on MS Dhoni, who has been retained as an uncapped player for this season by CSK.

In a recent press conference, Suryakumar was questioned about MI's strategy to manage the uncapped Dhoni. His response elicited mixed reactions from fans, with some MI supporters expressing frustration over his remarks.

“Uncapped player Dhoni! Has anyone been able to control him for so many years? We have learned so much from him, and we continue to learn,” he stated. “Whenever we have the chance, we engage in discussions with him. I am genuinely looking forward to seeing him again tomorrow. However, I will be leading against him,” he added.

In response to Suryakumar’s comments, one disgruntled fan remarked, “This is not the Mumbai Indians that Rohit Sharma built. CSK used to fear the name MI. Now, these players act as if CSK is their home team, and they are reluctantly wearing the MI jersey.”

Another fan added, “Exactlyyyy there should be someee trash talks some aggression They're making it friendliesss Spoils the mood”.

Here are the other reactions:

CSK successfully retained Dhoni as an uncapped player since he has not participated in international cricket for the past five years. This allowed them to keep him at a reduced price of ₹4 crore. Dhoni's last appearance for India was during the semi-finals of the 2019 ODI World Cup, where the team was defeated by New Zealand.

At 43 years old, Dhoni has yet to announce his retirement from the IPL. In a conversation with ESPNCricinfo, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad shared insights into Dhoni's preparation for the team.

"I believe his training is quite focused on his specific objectives and the role he intends to play in the IPL. It is essentially straightforward, concentrating on maximizing sixes and achieving the right swing, while ensuring he remains in optimal physical condition," he stated.
