Suryakumar’s Run-Out Joke on Dhoni & Dube
11 days ago | 5 Views
Suryakumar Yadav exemplifies the essence of a dedicated Indian cricketer. For him, the franchise affiliation is of little significance. Whether it is a promising young talent or a seasoned player from Team India, if they perform well, it is likely that Suryakumar Yadav will acknowledge them on his social media platforms. Recently, he congratulated his 17-year-old Mumbai teammate Ayush Mhatre for being selected as a replacement for Chennai Super Kings' regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is sidelined due to a fractured elbow. Following this, Surya shared a story on his Instagram that featured CSK captain MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube, which quickly gained popularity.
The captain of the India T20I team praised Dhoni and Dube for steering CSK back to victory in IPL 2025 after enduring five consecutive losses. However, Surya's Instagram story was far from a typical congratulatory message; it bore his unique flair.
The Mumbai Indians player incorporated a line from the biopic 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story,' featuring Sushant Singh Rajput, to illustrate the match scenario. This particular scene occurred during an inter-school tournament when Dhoni was at the crease during a run chase.
Surya creatively replaced the characters with the actual Dhoni and Shivam Dube. His Instagram story read: "Mahi bhai - If I give you the strike, will you score? Dube - I will give it a try. Mahi bhai - If you want to try, I can also do that. Just don’t get me run out," accompanied by images of Dhoni and Dube.

In a manner reminiscent of the film, Dhoni lived up to expectations in reality. He took decisive action to end CSK's losing streak. Dhoni and Dube formed a formidable partnership, scoring an unbroken 57 runs off just 27 balls, enabling CSK to successfully chase down 167 runs against the Lucknow Super Giants with five wickets remaining. This victory marked CSK's second win in the 18th season of the IPL, occurring after seven matches and being the first since Dhoni resumed captaincy following Ruturaj's injury.
Dhoni entered the game at No. 7 when CSK required 56 runs from 30 balls. The 43-year-old cricketing icon quickly found his rhythm, striking Avesh Khan for consecutive boundaries in the final two deliveries of the 16th over. In the subsequent over, Dube hit Shardul Thakur for a four, while Dhoni capped off the over with a six.
Avesh delivered an impressive 18th over, momentarily bringing LSG back into contention, but Dhoni and Dube capitalized on Thakur's ineffective 19th over to regain control for CSK.
Dhoni was awarded Player of the Match—his first in the IPL in six years—for his contribution of 26 runs off 11 balls, which included four fours and a six. Dube emerged as CSK's leading scorer with 43 runs off 37 balls.
Earlier, the CSK bowlers, spearheaded by Anshul Kamboj (1/20), Ravindra Jadeja (2/24), and Noor Ahmed (0/13), effectively limited LSG to a modest total of 166 runs for 7 wickets in their 20 overs.
