Support for Gautam Gambhir: Harshit and Nitish Rana's Statements Draw Scrutiny
2 months ago | 5 Views
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has criticized Harshit Rana and Nitish Rana after they shared nearly identical messages on social media in support of Gautam Gambhir. This situation arose following Manoj Tiwary's remarks, in which he labelled the India head coach a "hypocrite" and claimed credit for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) victories in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2012 and 2014.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Tiwary accused Gambhir of hypocrisy, arguing that his actions contradicted his statements. He referenced an earlier interview in which Gambhir expressed dissatisfaction with the hiring of foreign coaches, yet subsequently included Ryan ten Doeschate and Morne Morkel in his coaching team.
In response, Nitish Rana and Harshit Rana expressed their support for Gambhir on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram Stories.
Aakash Chopra remarked on the striking similarities between the statements made by Harshit and Nitish, suggesting they resembled a "Chat GPT product."
During a discussion on his YouTube channel on Saturday, Aakash Chopra stated, "Harshit Rana and Nitish Rana expressed their support for Gambhir on social media. Upon examination, it appears to resemble a Chat GPT product."
He further commented, "There are numerous similarities in both statements, leading one to believe that they were either composed by the same individual or generated by a machine. It could very well be Chat GPT, for all we know."
Gambhir's coaching tenure under fire
Gautam Gambhir is currently under significant scrutiny following India's defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, marking the end of a decade-long dominance. Under his leadership, India also experienced a loss in the ODI series against Sri Lanka and faced a comprehensive Test series defeat on home soil.
Manoj Tiwary highlighted various factors contributing to India's losses, emphasizing that the selection decisions were not optimal. He raised concerns regarding Gambhir's coaching qualifications, suggesting that the experience gained from mentoring IPL teams does not equate to effective coaching at the international level.
In response to Tiwary's remarks, Aakash Chopra noted, "Manoj Tiwary is correct in one aspect: he referenced Gautam Gambhir's previous statements regarding foreign coaches. To be fair, Gambhir chose Ryan ten Doeschate and Morne Morkel. I must be candid; both Morne and Ryan are individuals of great integrity and sincerity, yet they are not Indian."
"Furthermore, Tiwary mentioned that Gautam received undue credit for the success of KKR in the IPL during 2012 and 2014. When it comes to acknowledging contributions, it is essential to give credit rather than claim it. MS Dhoni exemplifies this; he remains humble and does not seek recognition, yet he is widely credited for his achievements. Dhoni has never publicly requested acknowledgement, and while some may resent his accolades, he has consistently refrained from asking for them," he concluded.
