Former Indian cricket captain Sunil Gavaskar displayed an outpouring of joy on Sunday night at the Dubai International Stadium, showcasing his youthful dance moves following India's triumph in the Champions Trophy. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the team secured a thrilling four-wicket victory over New Zealand, marking their third title and establishing themselves as the most successful team in the history of the ICC tournament.

The moment quickly gained traction on social media as the 75-year-old Gavaskar began to dance when the Indian team ascended the podium to receive the prestigious trophy, adorned with the traditional Champions Trophy 'white jacket.' Presenter Mayanti Langer was visibly amused, stepping aside from the camera to provide an unobstructed view of Gavaskar's spirited performance. Fellow panelist Robin Uthappa also joined in the moment, capturing the heartfelt scene on his mobile phone.

Star Sports presenter Jatin Sapru remarked, "Who could possibly stop Sunny ji today?" in response to Gavaskar's exuberance. Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh added, “We should let him enjoy this moment because it is truly special. Watching him was delightful. He is a legend and a revered figure in cricket. It is for players like him that many of us took up the sport. Today, he is reliving that same joy.”

Unbeaten India win Champions Trophy

The Indian cricket team achieved an impressive unbeaten streak, securing their second consecutive ICC title under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, as their victory over New Zealand solidified their position as the leading white-ball team in the world. The captain exemplified strong performance during a tense final held in Dubai on Sunday.

India boasts an extraordinary record, having won 22 out of their last 23 completed matches in ICC tournaments. Their sole defeat in the past three ICC events occurred in the final of the 2023 50-over World Cup against Australia.

Rohit was the top scorer with a brisk 76 runs, while KL Rahul's unbroken 34 runs in the final tense overs were crucial in helping India successfully chase a challenging target of 252 runs with one over remaining. New Zealand put up a fierce fight, defending a modest total of 251-7, and Michael Bracewell delivered a remarkable all-round performance. However, the reigning T20 world champions, India, could not be denied their second consecutive global title.
