Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan continues to excel with the bat, having scored another impressive half-century against Rajasthan Royals during the IPL 2025 match at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Retained for an impressive INR 8.50 crore, Sudharsan showcased his batting skills with a remarkable innings of 82 runs, featuring 8 fours and 3 sixes. His outstanding performance helped the Titans set a challenging total of 217/6 in 20 overs, asserting their dominance over the Royals' bowlers. The left-handed batsman exhibited a wide range of shots during his 53-ball innings, effectively maneuvering the ball around the field.

The young opener anchored the innings, ensuring the Titans surpassed the 200-run threshold, thereby presenting a significant challenge to the Rajasthan Royals, who also boast a formidable batting lineup. Sudharsan received a reprieve in the 18th over when Shubham Dubey dropped a straightforward catch at the boundary. However, he was unable to capitalize on this opportunity and was dismissed in the following over while attempting a big shot, edging the ball to RR captain Sanju Samson behind the stumps.

This innings marked his third score of fifty or more in just five matches this season, highlighting his remarkable consistency. He has climbed to second place in the Orange Cap standings with a total of 273 runs across five games, becoming the first Indian player to exceed the 200-run mark this season.

Cricket fans on social media have praised his consistent performances throughout the season thus far.

He excelled in the anchor position this season, as his presence in the middle enabled the other Titans batsmen to play their shots with greater freedom. The left-handed batsman possesses a strong technique, yet he is not hesitant to attempt creative shots, with the ramp over fine leg being the highlight of his performance during Wednesday's innings.

“I’m not trying to be consistent…”: Sai Sudharsan

He formed an 80-run partnership for the second wicket with Jos Buttler, who scored 36 runs, and continued to build momentum with Shahrukh Khan, contributing to a 62-run collaboration, also totaling 36 runs.

Throughout the innings, he expressed that they could have potentially added another 15 runs to their score, yet he still regarded 217 as a commendable total for the pitch.

“Given our performance, we believed we could have reached 15 more runs, but this is still an excellent score. I don’t anticipate dew affecting the game today. As a team, we aim to preserve our wickets and accelerate in the final five overs. My approach isn’t about maintaining consistency; rather, it’s about responding to the situation and maximizing our efforts,” Sai Sudharsan stated to broadcasters during the innings break.
