India's cricket players will shift their attention to the England tour in June, which includes five Test matches and marks the beginning of the 2025/27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, following the conclusion of IPL 2025. Meanwhile, for those cricketers from Mumbai who won't be selected for the red-ball squad, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has already announced plans for the upcoming T20 Mumbai League.

As reported by the Indian Express, the MCA has made it compulsory for all Indian players not on national duty to take part in the T20 tournament. The report noted that players like Ajinkya Rahane, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Prithvi Shaw, and Shardul Thakur have been notified of this decision and are keen to join the league.

An MCA official stated, "All Indian players from Mumbai have been told they must participate in the T20 Mumbai League, which starts after the IPL. It's mandatory unless they have national commitments or are dealing with injuries."

Additionally, these players will receive INR 15 lakhs for their participation, on top of their auction earnings. The source mentioned, "The association will pay Indian players 15 lakh as a participation fee, and they will also earn from the auction fees. We're finalizing the base price and other specifics."

The league is set to take place from May 26 to June 5, right after the IPL season wraps up, featuring eight teams.

MCA's major choice regarding Rohit Sharma

In a significant move for the Indian cricket captain, who has guided the team to consecutive ICC titles over the past year, the MCA has chosen Rohit to be the 'Face of the League.'

Earlier this week, the MCA gave the green light to a proposal to dedicate one of the stands at the famous Wankhede Stadium to the 37-year-old. This decision was made during the Association's Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday. Additionally, the board announced that two other stands at the stadium will be named to honor former BCCI president Sharad Pawar and legendary batsman Ajit Wadekar.
