Shikhar Dhawan Heartbroken: Blocked from Seeing Son Zoravar for Two Years

Shikhar Dhawan has opened up about the heartache of being away from his son, Zoravar, revealing that he hasn't seen the 11-year-old in two years and hasn't been able to talk to him for the last year. The former Indian opener mentioned that he's been cut off from any communication, which has led him to seek comfort in spiritual connections.

In a chat on the ANI podcast, the 39-year-old cricketer shared how he deals with this painful separation. "It's been two years since I last saw my son and a year since we spoke because I've been blocked everywhere. It's tough, but you learn to cope. I miss him and connect with him spiritually," he said.

Dhawan, who stepped away from international and domestic cricket in August 2024, explained how he uses affirmations and meditation to feel closer to Zoravar.

"I feel like I'm talking to him every day through affirmations, hugging him in spirit. I channel my energy into it. It's the only way I can feel connected to my son. Being sad won't help; I focus on manifesting," Dhawan shared.

His marriage to Aesha Mukherji ended in divorce in October 2023, resulting in him losing custody of Zoravar. Although he was allowed to connect through video calls, those attempts have been blocked. Still, he remains determined to reach out.

"I already feel like I'm with him, talking and playing together. When I meditate, I visualize those moments," he added. "My son is 11 now, but I've only been part of two and a half years of his life."

'I’d start by giving him a big hug'

If Dhawan had the chance to share his cricket memories with his son, his answer was really heartfelt. "First, I’d give him a big hug. I’d want to spend quality time with him and hear what he has to say. The idea of showing him my innings hasn’t even crossed my mind. I just want to listen to him and get to know him better. If he gets emotional, I’d probably tear up with him. I just want to cherish our time together."

For Dhawan, his achievements in cricket don’t hold a candle to his son’s happiness. “I want him to be happy and healthy. Even though I’m blocked, I still send him messages every few days. I don’t expect him to read them, and it’s cool if he doesn’t. It’s just my way of reaching out, and I’ll keep doing it.”
