Yuvraj Singh expressed high praise for Abhishek Sharma, the opener for Sunrisers Hyderabad, following his remarkable century against Punjab Kings on Saturday night. Abhishek, who has trained under Yuvraj's mentorship, delivered one of the most outstanding performances in the tournament's history, leading Sunrisers Hyderabad to a historic victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. In pursuit of a daunting target of 246 runs, Abhishek scored an impressive 141 runs off just 55 balls, making the challenging chase seem effortless. He surpassed KL Rahul's previous record of 132 runs, set against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2020, becoming the Indian player with the highest score in IPL history. His explosive innings included 14 fours and 10 sixes, with 116 of his runs coming from boundaries, breaking Jonny Bairstow's record of 90 boundaries for an SRH player.
The left-handed batsman bounced back from a series of low scores and dedicated his performance to the Orange Army. Additionally, fortune favored him during his innings, as he benefited from a few dropped catches and a dismissal that was ruled a no-ball.
Upon reaching his century, Abhishek revealed a note from his pocket that read, "This one is for Orange Army," a gesture that quickly endeared him to fans in Hyderabad.
Yuvraj also shared a message for Abhishek, commending the left-hander for his maturity in achieving his century. The legendary Indian all-rounder also praised Travis Head and Shreyas Iyer in his social media post.
